LaCie DVD Burner's Firewire Capabilities

I was looking at a LaCie DVD burner on newegg, and saw this picture on the back:

Notice how there are two firewire ports. This is important because my mac mini only has one firewire port which i use for my iPod. Would it be possible to plug the burner into the mac, then plug my iPod into the second, free firewire port thus using the burner as a router?

I have a d2 HDD plugged into my LaCie DVD burner...which is plugged into a FW hub....which is plugged into my computer. I guess the simple answer is yes, the port is there to daisy chain. :D
