Best Schools for Information Architecture

Hi Everyone,

I am interested in pursuing a masters degree in information architecture. My background is in art and communications. I have been researching some schools, and to me thus far the University of Baltimore seems to offer the best program directed towards this elusive major. Can you provide me with any more tips or suggestions? :confused:

Most schools don't have majors for Information Architecture because it is a relatively new field. The best thing to get started in it is experience.

You could major in Communications (media/electronic) or Mass Communications and start doing IA as a serious hobby and you are very likely to be able to land a job in the field of IA

I'm 24 years old, and reading on the subject like a madman :D It is such an intresting field! I just feel that if I major in something with a strong emphasis in IA, I will be better prepared than say doing Communications and practicing IA on the side.

Actually, there are several schools that offer IA in their information sciences curriculum I discovered. But UBalt seems to really hit home on the subject. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who is a practicing IA by title????

Find out who's doing the best research on the topic -- read journal articles and see who gets cited the most often. Where those people come from, that's where you want to go to school.
