I wonder if the video of it happening is available anywhere - the odds aren't that slim it could happen 1:45k or something like that - but of all days? And in that order? If it had been 1-9-1 or even 1-1-9 that would be a little bit better. Like I said, freaky!

Feels rigged to me. I mean Dukestreet pulls a point with the ratios but I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to pull it off on TV. It can happen.

but even if it was rigged the question is why would they do that - very morbid if you ask me.

And you could just keep selecting a ball until it came out right and with a little video editing - you get 9-1-1 - and it wouldn't take more than an hour probably to get it.

Didn't the same thing happen last year with one of the lotteries up there? It seems like I remember hearing about in in NY or NJ. Maybe there is something to this collective consiousness thing, everyone has those numbers on their mind and it effected the physical world. I don't really believe in things like that, but this is pretty weird.

I saw the video, and here's the thing. I dunno how they do the broadcasts in NYC, but in PA, they have a wide out shot of the person picking the first number. They zoom into the number and then cut out to the wide shot, show the next number and zoom in again.

NYC's showed them picking the first number. and then a closeup of the empty holders.....and the nums just popped up.

It wouldn't be the first lottery rigging scheme......but yea... the q's is, why?

Maybe they knew a lot of people would play it and knew that maybe the cash could help? I dunno....weird for sure.

How about 1 in 10,000, assuming each number has an equal chance of being drawn.

I'll have to go back and rethink the math - its the odds I heard on the radio and it was more than just 10^3 - it was getting the date to come out in correct order - and since you have to go through and figure out which dates you can actually represent with 3 numbers, I didn't bother going through the whole thing myself.

1-1-1 could be 11/1 or 1/11 and 9-9-9 isn't a date, but 9-0-9 is, as you can see its a bit messy. So feel free to be a math geek and rework the odds for me - I'm just going to go with the number I heard.

it looks like the possibility of a fake could be right on with it. But then again, i dunno how NYC's lottery normally is broadcasted.

I mean, the could have fed the balls from pipes with only one number in them, or weighted them differently (which is what happened to pa in the 80s)

When I first heard about it on K-Rock (http://www.krockradio.com) it did seem freaky. Probably someone wanted to become real rich last night and figured he/she could get away with replacing the number scramblers.

At least the Yankees game wasn't rigged, when the Yankees won with 9 runs in the 11th inning last night. :eek:

I wasn't kidding about my battery life. I started reading the thread, and I noticed that I had 11% battery left, so just out of curiosity, I clicked on it to show me the time, and it said 9 minutes. I tried to take a desktop picture, but the stupid "you are now running on reserve power" thing popped up, and it went down to 10%... Well, I guess the warning thing isn't too stupid, but it kinda ruined the moment...

Surely the odds of picking any particular number between 000 and 999 are simply 1 in 1000 ?

As there are 2 draws each day the chance of drawing 911 on 11th September are 1 in 500.

So its not that amazing after all, butl it does make you think (!)
