Does anybody know where I can get really old system software for my Mac Plus (disk img). I would like to get system software from before the system 6 days...
The images used to be freely available, but I can't find them anymore... :(

I am under the impression that System 6 is the earliest software that will run on a Mac Plus. Earlier systems were built specifically for the earlier series Apple Computers (Lisa, Macintosh, Apple //x, etc.).
I could always be wrong though.

www.jagshouse.com has lots of resources for your older macs. they have a list of old system software downlodas (i'm assuming that most of them are probably from the apple ftp site listed above) and lots of other software, tips, and tricks.

My Mac Plus is now running System 3.2 with Finder 5.3!!!
I will try and see if it will run system 1.1g later....
Thanks for the help and suggestions!
