Monkey love

Over the last few years I've been struck by how much the whole world loves monkeys. Over here in England one of my friends favourite sayings is that "there isn't anything more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!" - how true!

On top of this, I've noticed in recent years that monkeys are becoming more fashionable, just watch friends, Jay and Silent Bob strike back - We love this monkey!

Reading through this forum it would seem that you guys across the pond are also huge fans of monkeys - cool!

Anyway, this is basically just a shout out for all the monkey lovers out there.

Donkey Kong is the name of the monkey in the game. That was probably my favorite game for SNES.

Monkeys...such an enigma...

I think we like them because they remind us of ourselves (intelligence and appearance) and yet they also show us our primitive/instinctual/playful side...

...that, and people train them to do funny things...Dunston is funny...:D

So the people at Nintendo wanted to come up with a name - King Kong, probably the most famous ape, wouldn't work, so they gave him a different first name.

So you see, it is a somewhat appropriate name - and all the other apes in the Nintendo games have Kong as their last name.
