arn

I know people have talked about people's ages here alot... but I did a quick calculation and I know the average age of macrumors forum users... at least of those who actually supplied a birthday. (2567 out of 12000).

any guesses?

I say 23...seems to take into account the large amount of teenagers, offset a little by the few "old timers"...

Plus it's the closest to my age. ;)

I'd say inbetween legal driving age and legal drinking age (US) cuz that's how old I am! :D

I'm going to say 23.

if you check just for this month on this neat little gadget called "calendar" you will see that only 19 of thoes who have Birthday this month are under 20 years old.

so I go for 26 as average :p

I'd have figured "25" would be a choice here...

I'm 24...gonna be 25 in a few weeks...so I chose 26... ;)

I voted for 23...

Sure, there are several young users, but I have noticed some *experienced* members aboard as well. I don't need to mention names.

he he he...I know exactly who one of them is...as he always makes it a point to target the fact that he's older...whether or not we consider it old... ;)

that's a hoot, you are a baby boomer like me and dukestreet (who's right on the cusp of boomer and gen x), but we are the statistical outliners and several standard deviations off the norm

there would have to be a lot of us to bring the average age up to 26...23 sounds a little high to me also...so i voted for 20

many who live at home as teens have fewer expenses and more free time to post, unless they work late like me or have a computer on the job and oodles of dead time like many corporations have, especially these days in the bear market

i wonder what arn's calculations say...also, older folk like you and me are often more reluctant to state our age...notice i don't state my age...i will be forty next year and my wife asks why the heck i belong on an online teenage (IMMATURE/ARROGANT) mac fan club:p ;)

he he...i can't believe 26 got the most votes so far

but wait 'til the kids get back from school and then we will see where the vote stands:p

us old folk are logging in from our boring jobs where we have to support younguns in the schools so they can buy their ps2 games and wear expensive clothes:p

LOL, do I sense resentment that you are no longer a child (such as I, 15)?

Are you sure you are not talking about the number of frames per second in standard video production?

Did you also count Beej in for being 100? :D
[Ah, nuts. Rowdawg beat me to it in seconds.]

Well, I guess it would make sense, since it's the young people, who make their prominence on the forums known, and post their BDays.

But, as I said, there have been a few members I have talked with on the forums with at least 30 years of experience on the boards. Obviously, they don't post as often.

Well, arn... got any more lotto polls? :p

So since I'm 32 and an old man by the findings of this less than scientific study, should I take it upon myself "discipline" (smack) the rude posters? Or just continue to rely on our community to flame the idiots? Just wondering...

OK, so I'm really a bit younger than that. But in the great cosmic circle, what does a few decades matter? :)
