Can anyone please tell me if 3d studio max is available for the mac?

I pretty sure it's not, but there are plenty of others, Bryce 5 (at the lower end), Cinema 4D, Lightwave, Maya...

And I don't think there are any plans in the near future for it to be ported over to the macs.

Bryce 5 at the lower end? you can exactly model in it but the UI and rendering is pretty good :D
