Howdy Ya'll! Welcome to this thread! Pull up a chair!

How many of ya'll (the accent is just so funny :p ) are from Texas here? I know that a couple of newbies are. If anyone from Texas were watching TXCN on Tuesday (I think), you might have seen the feature with Janie Porche. I didn't see it, but my parents told me about it. dell may have their dude, but Apple has their gal, and she can whoop up on steven's pansy-a$$ any day...

Anyways, I hope all you newbies from Texas stick around. Maybe we can have geekfest somewhere in Texas, if we get enough of ya'll ( :D )

Come back now, ya' hear!

YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW............. Sorry, my texanese came out unexpectedly. I live in Austin. Austin rocks. The only bad thing about Austin is that there isnt an apple store. It is the perfect city for an apple store, with austin people being so wild and all, not to mention how many iBooks they would sell if the store was located on the drag (because of UT students). Austin rocks, Texas Rocks.

Thats all good, but I better do my HW.

I'm not from Texas, but I'm from the state above you. :)
(well, not at the moment, but I'm moving back there before the end of the year.:))

The campus computer store at UT features Macs. There is a main Apple rep. on campus, and every semester, they train and hire new ones, just for the experience. I'm a senior in high school right now, and am planning to go to UT. I'm hoping to try out this Apple rep thing (I was told by an Apple rep at an event about this program...)

But I do agree, Austin could definitely use an Apple store.

Apple computers fit Austin's personality. I would visit the apple store very often... As of now, I go to compUSA to look at the computers that I can only dream of affording. I cant wait till compUSA gets the d1.25 DP. Anticipation..... :D

Austin is a rocking city man. I think the only apple store in Texas is near Dallas in the plano area or something... somewhere around there. Im from Texas also Ive lived for a long while near Corpus Christi now Im in Lubbock. Im hoping to eventually move to Austin or San Antonio in 2 to 3 years.
They do need at least 2 Apple stores in Texas though. Hell more than that. Texas can be a country.

though i've been to south padre many times, i haven't gone during spring break...i got hooked on port A from the first time i went...smaller crowds and a little less wild( though wild enough:D ) i used to have a loft in deep ellum-that was a blast...though it was a little hard to get used to the gunfire at nite. i haven't been to sxsw in years...i hear its huge now...very few bands ever get signed from playing there...more of an industry excuse to party. lotsa signed bands playing though...go figure. man, do i love austin..hope it hasn't grown too much.

oh, and another thing i miss in dallas....martini's at the inwood lounge.

I live on Greenville Ave. in Dallas, 10 minutes from everywhere: Deep Ellum, Downtown, Lower Geenville, you name it. The ONLY thing I wish Dallas had, was some hills and trees - mountain biking on a pancake landscape sucks donkey.

Let's have a steak at Kirby's and go for some drinks to the green room. Then listen to some local bands at the Curtain club or the Gypsy Tea Room, and you are having a good time.

oh yea, when i lived there i never missed a show...not to mention i spent a lot of time at eugene's and charlie's guitar shops. and strings west in OK when i was up that way. do you know eugene, mark or the infamous mr dukes?

used to haunt the pawn shops on lower greenville ave and on westmoreland(?)...used to find great deals on old strats, white falcons and danelectros. alas, i've sold them all now...

still hit the vintage show here in LA when i have the chance...just to look, dream and drool...:D

An additional thing I wish Dallas had is a cooler climate.

you don't by chance live in the village do you? that was such a wild place when i lived in dallas. the country club was always great during the summer splash parties. i spent a lot of time at the san fransisco rose...mark probably still tends bar there.:D and terelli's, GBG's, blue goose...theres such a great live music scene in dallas. if you ever get the chance to see bugs henderson or rocky athas( two amazing and relatively unknown guitarists) go see em. they, along with stevie ray vaughn, put dallas on the map.

re: mountain biking...DORBA had a trail out at lake grapevine that was some pretty decent single track...lotsa trees, challenging drops and you could swim to cool off at the turnaround point. theres also a park in arlington thats pretty good-can't remember its name. the guys at wheels in motion(if thats still there) had the info on all the locations...and so soes DORBA. but yea, for the most part dallas is one flat landscape. the sad reality is you gotta split texas to do some serious biking. my fav is the north shore of tahoe...tough, beautiful...and i'd rather take a fall there than moab....

Yes, I have visited most bike tracks and there are some all right ones, but I used to mountain bike a lot of downhill when away from Dallas. Anywho, I like Dallas and pitty the fool who thinks otherwise.:D

WHAT?!?!?!? Austin rocks. Not every city is the live music capitol of the world. Austinites like to say that :D. There is so much to do in Austin, and it isnt that overcrowded. Even if it was extremely crowded, New York is extremely crowded and it is freakin' awesome! I love NY, but I couldn't live there for more then 2 years. NY is too crowded, Austin isn't. Austin doesnt suck :D.

Anyone here ever raced or gone to Warda? I'd go to that race every hear for the last 3 or so years with my boy scout troop. We had a scoutmaster who raced, and the troop helped out with parking, and different stuff.

My physics teacher is also #1 in Texas for his age group. His name is Mike Padgett... I don't know if many mountain bikers here from Texas that race are as old as him (I'd be surprised if there was someone here from Texas who was over 40, and enjoys mountain bike racing :p )

Hey hitman, sounds cool! When you find out what your dad bought, tell us! (if you want to :p :D  )

We already might have run into each other at one time or another at an Apple event/store - and not even know that we post to MR.

I'll start wearing a nametag at the Apple store when I'm there: "Hello My Name Is Zarathustra - you might remember me from such terrific posts on Macrumors as «How do you shave?» and «Macheads from Texas!»"

See you soon!
