analog input to make cd

Hey there... would like to somehow take the analog output from my hi-fi casette deck and feed it into my G4 or my Ibook to be able to transform the analog file into digital (aiff?) and burn my own cds... anybody offer some help in this area please? What type of plug, specific sound cards or software is needed? Thanks!

You'll need a certain kind of program that can record from line-in ( I don't know where you could get one, but try versiontracker)
For the hardware side of things, you'll need something like the iMic (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/)
There's other solutions out there, but I've heard good things about it. :)

You'll need a usb mic/input to record audio on your Mac. Apple used to include a line-in... but only recently reintroduced it into the PowerMacs.

There are likely others... but that was the first one that popped up on google.

From there, you just need some sound recording software. There's a free open-source one called Audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about.php?lang=en

Beyond that, there are likely other free solutions as well as shareware/ commercial ones. That should be all that you need. Export to AIFF. Burn with Toast or iTunes.
