iPod remote not working?

My new iPod's remote seems not to respond at all...the hold button is off on the machine and the remote and nothing happens...anyone?

whoops..i did a quick search at apple's knowledge base and the answer turned up instantly...it turns out that you have to push it a bit extra otherwise it will play but the remote won't work..

Yeah you have to push it in until you hear a "click" or a "snap";)
