I am waiting for tiger to buy my first mac. I was reading somewhere that the day panther was released, there was a 10% discount on all hardware/software. Is there a chance that tiger will be the same way? Has this happened with other mac os?

Yes, there is a chance. This is only in Apple's retail stores, though, I believe. I don't think it applied to the online Apple Store.
