newbie web question

thanks for reading this post. i'm new to web design and i have just finished uploading my first site using fetch. now here's the problem.

1. when i type in my domain name (ie: domain.com) i still don't see my site. it still has the default under construction site that it came with from namesecure.

2 when i type my ip address (ie: ##.##.##.###) i see the site fine.

am i doing something wrong? does it take time to connect my site to the actual domain name?

i don't know too much about web design so any help would is appreciated.

DNS needs to be set up
www.yourdomain.tld has to point to a webserver (a record).
you can try it here (http://www.kloth.net/services/dig.php)

If your host did set up the DNS records, it could take 24 hrs for this updated info to spread around the world.

so, check the a records, wait 24 hrs, check again.
If that fails you will have to give us your domain name ;)
