It all depends on how you do the animation - subtle is good.

I don't know dukestreet. Shrek doesn't look so happy in that picture. He looks really  to me. :(

Mr. Anderson
Sep 23, 2002, 10:08 AM
It was an example of subtle animation - and the quality of the image is better anyway. I leave it up to you to get a better 'smiley' ogre pic - but in general Shrek was mostly grumpy.....

what was shrek?

oh yes. animation

find a good subtle animation clip and juice that. as duke said.

as you can see. i'm also all about subtlty in mine.

ummm, jelloshotsrule- I can tell you enjoy subtlty

mine may just be really simple

shrek, i downloaded the trailer and then imported the images into Image Ready. A little minor editing and you get your tar. There has to be some more.

Wow, you might even qualify to be "Old Skool", though I'm not sure what the requirements are.

Sep 23, 2002, 04:11 PM
someone says old skool is jan 2002, which pisses me off. However, I would think its much further than that, I feel very new, and like I only connect with a few demi-gods now.

there is a whole other thread for that though, btw...the redhead is much hotter than preteen blonde

oh- not that I ever believed it but I kept hearing..one day you'll hit 500...I questioned if the avatar would actually post, but AMZINGLY it does!

Mr. Anderson
Sep 23, 2002, 08:59 PM
There really aren't that many old skool folks around. I was lurking at the time, so it doesn't really count for me and I registered in 2001. But that's another thread like big said.....

Well, congradulations, I am boosting mine up towards 300. Im not the most actuve poster, but I post here and there, pretty much every day. I dont go on posting sprees, doing 50 posts in an hour or anything, but I post 3-4 times a day. Seems to be boosting my post count, but I have never payed much attention to that, so I really dont care. Lol :D

Nah, I don't think he does. I like the parameters the Macmaniac devised: Registered before 06/01 and posted in the last month (otherwise you're just a dead poster)

Why does this thread have so many posts?

PS-I almost have 500 posts, only 470 to go!

It got off topic and provided a discussion that people were interested in. Happens all the time and its ok do get sidetracked in the community section. But in other forums its considered good form to try and stay on topic. If things get out of hand, someone (moderator or God) has to come in and shut it down.

Thats a really long time ago.

Sep 24, 2002, 08:52 AM
not really...especially once you try to define the meaning of old skool, I think it will have to do with more of a community connection, and is a fluid date (ie...Continuously changing) & can not be predefined, UNlESS you make a whole bunch of stipulations on specific instances and examples.

I know I had been a lurker since about that date, and only started posting when I felt I knew who was on the board and their personalities...however, no one knew who I was...and I certainly didn't have a tar.

in any instance, people keep trying to define it...wonder why, are we setting who's in charge around here? or just definging the boundries of the social realm?

sorry, I had a lot of studying in the last couple of days in urban psych sciences.

the first registered users are dated june, 2000 and old school is through june, 2001

but with 12,000 users or more signed up, i think it should one day be revised to anyone who registered in 2000 or 2001

there are tons of people, most of macrumors, who came in during 2002

i remember when there were 3,000 members or even less here and when i came on in july, 2000, there were probably just hundreds of members but i never posted of paid much attention to the details much

Either that or talk like your senile. Like: You little whippersnapper, back when I registered, 100mhz processors seemed impossible, let alone these 2ghz ones you have nowadays. I had to walk 20 miles in the snow with no shoes, uphill both ways, even to use a computer. You don't know how good you youngins got it these days...:D

The site isn't that old. Maybe 600mhz. Other then that it could be a good idea.

Man you had it easy, we were forced to write reports using dusty books from the library and had to turn them in written in pen (and it had to be legible) on paper and spell checked with one of those paper dictionaries.

And if the teacher really wanted to torture you, we were forced to type the report on a typewriter.

Twenty miles up hill in snow to use the word processor and electronic libraries is cake, compared to lugging 20lbs of books on your back to use the manual typewriters.

Well, if you tried to make a tomb stone......

and I do remember handing in papers without the use of a computer, not fun, typing on a typewriter sucked, no cut and pastes and the delete key was a little bottle of white out....yuck!
