I've always wondered how exactly the LCD on laptops is connected to the onboard video, is it a pure digital interface or a D>A>D like a VGA port on a flat panel monitor?
I've looked around for awhile and I'm still clueless.

Its a direct connection similar to an IDE cable i believe.

Yes what kind of signal goes through the cable?
I ask this cuz I've seen a lot of laptop screens that have similar quality to an LCD with analog VGA input while others have displays equivilent in quality to a display with DVI input.
It's not something I need to know, but it's something I've been wondering for a long time.:)
