I wana see who can.....

Requirements: You have to know the answer yourself, cannot be vague, like whats mcCoy's dog's name (but i do know kirks dogs name, hehe)

a lot of this can be found on the internet - so its not much of a challenge, especially if you have plenty of time to research the answer. Why are you trying to have us stump you, though?

Is it the whole universe, ST - original series through to Voyager, or only the current ones?

James Doohan lived across/down the street from this famous person (not an actor) who was famous in his field of work, died because of it, and whose life story and that of his wife and daughter spawned a book, movie and tv series...

Who was he? And what did he do for a living?

What was the name of the Romulan leader that Garak killed in order to bring the Romulans into the Dominion War?

What alien group was Worf considering leaving Starfleet for after the destruction of the Enterprise?

What was the name of the device to be used to expose the Gowron changeling? And what device was inevitably used to expose the Dominion imposter?

I'll leave it for a while, some of the more intense Star Trek trivia nerds "should" know it...

James Doohan was a "close" family friend and did go on occasional jobs with this guy, and it is one of the more interesting home businesses to find in a neighborhood.

And a modified version of it can be found in a couple places.....

PCUser
Sep 23, 2002, 09:03 PM
Scottie was found in the transporter, which he had locked in a diagnostic cycle many years before to keep himself alive, inside of a ship that had crashed on a big spherical structure they called a Dyson (SP?) sphere, because it was large enough to encompass a star and a I think a planet's orbit.

"Relics". One of my favorite shows. :)

(Scottie was a passenger on the ship and had been on his way to a place to stay for retirement... can't remember where off the top of my head, though)

The Dyson sphere was named after some guy who came up with the concept. The ship Scotty was on was the Jenolan and the destination was the Norpin colony.

Aren't the 'Heisenburg Compensators' part of the transporter system that accounts for the Heisenburg Uncertainty Prinicple saying you can't measure two parameters without modifying the other (or something, don't remember specifics)? Sorry, it's late, and off the top of my head... :)

Speaking of naming things after people working in and around Star Trek, the Shatner Class has got to be a big ego boost...

Especially when you're able to aspects of it included in one of the ST Movies.

C'mon the full name shouldn't be that hard, and also how they included it in the movies either.

The Jeffries Tubes are named after Matt Jeffries, designer of the original Enterprise, and the Heisenberg compensators are found in the transporter system, and they work "very well, thank you." And yes, all my answers are and have been off the top of my head. And if it wasn't GR, then it was either Pike or Kirk. Though I don't know if it was ever said in dialogue, since I never saw the episode of that name in TOS.

That would be correct - but the thing is, I really love when the 'scientists' working on the show (they actually have some consultants who know a few things) come up with stuff like this.

You could have called it a 'Flux Capacitor' and it would be about as meaningful....

But they try so hard some times to stay in realm of real physics, but in other cases its just blatantly nuts. Species 8472 came from a liquid universe? Please, the densities of the the aqueous 'space' would cause things to collapse into planets, suns and black holes - provided that the laws of physics are the same as in our universe, and if they weren't, well, you really wouldn't be able to cross back and forth. And this is just one example, there are many.

Data sorta falls in love with Tasha Yar, but not really, since he is technically incapable of it, especially during that point in the series.

And no, Picard never hit on alien chicks... the reverse is not true though.

And you got to love the blue babes that Kirk always seemed to find in every episode....

i watched star trek initially because it was more interesting than the stuff on the other channels in the same time slot...i don't think it is the greatest show of all time, but the original series was always in my top five any tv season

i liked battlestar gallactica better but it was shorter lived overall

to me, trivia is unimportant information that is a waste of one's time and life energy;)

I think he commanded the Enterprise, he was from the future, he went to the neutral zone (well, its not the neural zone in the future, but the Devron system), picard travelled on Beveraly Crushers ship, I can't think of the name. The federation was in conflict with the klingons, and data was a professor at Oxford.

Miles O'Brian (Colm Meany (sp?)) was the transporter cheif in TNG, and the Chief of operations on DS9, starting at the end of the sixth season of TNG.

Scott Bakula is the captain of Enterprise NX-01, in the show Enterprise, which is a prequal taking place in 2151. It's not that great a show.

Well, maybe they need a break from last weeks episode, it was kind of weak. I like the series a lot but "A night in sickbay" was kind of boring.

Who needs to get a life and smell the roses? ;)

But seriously folks, it's all in good humor. If we could get more people get this passionate about something useful, guess where we would be as a society? I am the worst about getting sidetracked and geek out on my mac for hours, but to dedicate this much time to a TV show always amazes me. I guess you guys see a parallel in your life and/or see a possibility of the future playing out as the episodes of ST. In a way it's not any different than reading a philosophy book on ethics and studying hypothetical situations. Except yours plays out on the TV screen.

Yes, if our society had Star Trek like space ships and technology and their was a starfleet, I would definatley join the Academy. ;) Heck, I dream about that happening all the time.:D I know what you mean about getting sidetracked on the computer. I played Starcraft last night until almost 11:00 before looking at my watch and realizing I hadn't done any homework yet.

This is pretty easy, but what was the project that Khan stole in "The Wrath of Khan"?

When Spock splits his fingers making the sign for "live long and prosper?" it has a certain significance to Nimoy.

I'm not sure, it was probably explained sometime during the original series, which I haven't seen a lot of.

Here's an easy one: In Star Trek VI a relative of what TNG character makes an appearance?

Worf?

Turns out Nimoy was in temple while his father was doing some rituals, and like many curious boys peeked in on one of the rituals and saw his father make that hand sign...later he found out the symbol was similar to the shin letter http://www.jewfaq.org/alephbet.htm , which abbreviates one of the many names for God.

Why aren't there more good Star Trek games period? Remember Star Trek 25th anniversary? I haven't seen a good Star Trek game since...If you want a better Star Trek game, let Aspyr know.

Aww c'mon! Voyager: Elite Force? Star Trek: Armada? Star Trek: Bridge Commander? granted the last 2 were pc only (?), but they were awesome, espeically bridge commander. You get to fly around in a galaxy and a soveriegn class star ship, destroying cardassians with your fleet. How cool is that?

Well, there will be one more soon. I'm part of a group doing a Star Trek TC for EV Nova. The only similarity it will have to Nova is the engine and starfield, so it will be, in essence, a Star Trek game.

Cool, I had started a Star Trek TC for EV Override a few years back but I never finished it. I abandoned it in favor of doing a Marathon TC. Good luck, I always wanted to play Star Trek EV :D

You might want to check out the Star Trek: Starcharts book that is out right now, one of the reasons I stopped was the task of mapping out the ST Universe was too daunting on the scale I wanted.
