I won't go into detail, but I think the most necessary options/elements for the site are either not there or not well defined.
I think the smilies need to be on the same page, a well-defined quote/reply button (you have several reply buttons), a directory path to the thread needs to be added above the posts...

Also, is there a memberlist or an active users list?
For a beta for the forums, I have to be blunt, mac15. Making the site more well-defined and easier to understand would probably be better than have a forum that works, but is hard to understand.
To put it into comparison: I just got a copy of Photoshop 8, with all these new functions, a new menu, and a way to work 3D vectors. I really want to use the program to create spectacular images, but they do not come out the way I am used to having them come out.
Do you see where I'm coming from? Just keep working on it.

there is nothing wrong, but people like thing a little different and like to do it themselves,
Same thing, why didn't arn use another board, cause he wanted to do it himself, its just the way to go,

nope they are free...but slightly unstable at times.
I'm using remote hosting, so I have no control over the uptime of my forums.
