stupid question about sharing

Hi all. I am kind of at a loss. How would I go about sharing certain folders and its contents on my hard drive over the network without putting everything in the Public folder?

Interesting question. I would also like to know! However, I fear that the answer is that you can only share item in the public/shared (root user directory) folder.

I thought it could be done within OSX. Oh well.

Anyway, i found a great utility that does exactly what i wanted. It's donationware and it works great!
