For everybody's information, I have been here long enough to have posts removed before, usually I knew the reason, and a couple of occasions I really had no idea why, they didn't seem to fit into any of the banning categories (I once spent hours mocking up a retro iMac for everyone's ammusement, only to have it removed within 2 minutes!), but I got over it.
And yes, I would like an avatar, but not having one isn't the reason that I'm leaving, if that were the case, I would have left a long time ago.
I am under no illusion that I can change Tar rules, in fact I agree that there should be some sort of reward system, but I find the way it is implemented only encourages the type of behaviour that the moderators are trying to prevent, ie. multiple, micro and off topic postings, things that make reading these forums very tiresome, some of these threads are rapidly reduced to pre-pubescent mutual appreciation societies because of it.
My point is, that although these forums exist to be used, they are actually being funded in the main by the readers, and rather that rewarding a regular reader, there is a reward system in place that actually encourages destructive behaviour on the forums that in turn probably losses more than it gains (not only in readers, thus clicks, but also finances) and when one of them makes this point (me), it is he that is punished.
It wouldn't have reached this stage if after I had enquired as to why my posts had been deleted, that edignuk hadn't replied in such an insensitive and abusive manner.
I realise that humour is not universal but the way my posts were removed rendered Lacero's rather humorous reply completley meaningless and was actually insulting to the poster immediately above mine, because after my removal, it looked as if Lacero was referring to him.
And although it may have been against the rules and not everybody's cup of tea, I did think I made my point, something which is now difficult to prove because all the posts have been removed from the server, so I can't even quote myself.
If I wanted to cause trouble I could just troll my way through these forums, but I do try to give helpful tips when I can.
MacDawg: Like any relationship, it takes work. I wouldn't expect you to end other relationships this quickly over such matters. If you can put this behind you, I think you can move on and find this to be a meaningful place for you.
To a certain extent I agree, but I don't really see the point in trying to converse with someone who thinks that his monologue constitutes my conversation, dialogue is a two way process and not the my way or no way attitude of edesignuk. And if you mean by "it takes work" that I have to put up with someone pissing down my back and telling me it's just raining, well, I don't.
I may be very vocal in my non-acceptance of this hypocrisy but I doubt if I'm alone.
If you want to be moderated by someone who says:
...course, you're wasting your breath. It's been gone over, many, many times. Nothing is about to change.
that's up to you, but I'm of the opinion that acceptance of his attitude will only encourage the bad behaviour he is supposed to be moderating. A bit like the fireman who is also an arsonist.
He's already said that I'm wasting my breath so what is there to work through? True, if it were a personal relationship I wouldn't react in this way, it does take work, but that relationship is doomed if it is always the one partner doing all the putting behind.
But there are other relationships in this world, like the one I have with McDonalds, and if the manager is abusive to me, I like everyone else here at MacRumours can take their business elsewhere, BurgerKing for example, because as a customer I have the prerogative to spend my money where I wish...
And do I expect anything to change? for you here at McRumours no, but for me yes, because I made a choice.
P.S. I've come to the conclusion that with every new post edesignuk just confirms the fact that he is obviously an obnoxious little git.
My advice to you would be: if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!
