The MacRumors GunZip Problem

Hey guys, a while back I was talking to Arn about a little problem I have with IE and MacRumors. He had not seen the problem before and could not help me so I was hoping that someone help knows what the problem is so I can solve it.

When I try to load MacRumors in IE I am given a screen that asks me how IE should handle GZip files. I know that the site is compressed in Gun Zip and that the browser is supposed to decompress it to run it but I do not know how to get IE to run it correctly.

Have you tried reinstalling IE (or trashing your IE profile in ~/Library/Preferences/Explorer and then restarting)? It sounds like your MIME typing is screwed up somehow.

I would definitely trash IE and anything related to it. Then reinstall. If you're running 10.2 fix permissions after you are done. Also make sure you have the latest version of IE.
