So who do we nominate to act surprised on behalf of the Macrumors community when the Amazon-spec machines get released?

Me too. Now that Tiger is here I'm ready to buy the next revision 12" ibook. I didn't get a sense from the rumor mill that the ibook is coming today; but it seems like May is a good bet. I hope there are some pleasant surprises for the powermac buyers today-- I dont want to read a 400 post WORST UPGRADE EVAR thread....

The Amazon spec's didn't note the GPU, so at least you have that to look forward to (or be disapointed by).

Well hopefully there is a top-end machine, or some other surprises up their sleeves.

All of sudden, I was able to check the new powermac.
It is exactly what was posted before.
I did not like the prices though...2k + is way too much for me.

New to the dual processor models
The new features of the Power Mac G5 will help take your digital creations to another level:
Faster PowerPC G5 processors up to 2.7GHz - Cool
Speedier frontside bus up to 1.35GHz on each processor - Nice
512MB of memory standard - FINALLY
Higher-performance graphics cards with twice the video memory and built-in support for the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display - WOO FRICKIN HOO! DONT NEED THE RARE 6800
Larger capacity hard drives up to 800GB Serial ATA -^-^
A 16X double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL, DVD±R/CD-RW) that burns twice as much data and video on DVDs -Cool
Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, the worlds most advanced operating system - :D

thats what I thought too at first glace. They need to change the 30inch panel info to show this card as supported though. I would hope the top of the line stock could drive the top display

It is new. Someone said in a previous post that it may be related to a mobility card because of the 50 at the. I don't really think that would be the cause because it is a Power Mac. I'd also like to see how it compares to the 9600.

With the 400 GB hard drives now available as BTO options does anyone think they'll be included in the next iMac update? Thinksecret said the two top models would ship with 250 GB hard drives I would think 400 GB would be a BTO option. Thinksecret could have been wrong though.

I'd also like to see how it compares to the 9600.At first glance it appears to be double the VRAM of the 9600 and has one dual-link DVI port (for the 30" display).

is this the first time PMs haven't shipped with Modems? I wouldn't need one anyways but when pricing systems I knew i could shave 30 bucks off there to put towards a larger hard drive or something

I just checked and its up again...if you guys can really bitch about the results..I dont know what to say except this...
I just priced out the PM I want and its over 1k cheaper for a better rig.
Check this..2.0 PM with 1g of ram a 400g hd and a 256mg gpu w/wireless bluetooth key and mouse and a 20" display for just over $3300. It would have cost me over 4k yesterday with a 250g hd and 128mg gpu.
That is an improvement.....so I'm buying it today...hell right now :D
