And boy is it far from that hunk of trash I burned a hole in last year. This thing is sweet. It made me coffee and tied my freaking shoes for me, 'cause I only know how to use velcro.

It's got handles, and stuff, and it's pretty (like me). And that new flatscreen ain't so bad either.

Makes my hunk of trash look worse than it is, which is saying quite a bit.

But Teabgs, dude, I'm happy for you. The day I met you, you were all up in my shiznit about your new computer.

So it took a couple of years, but hotdamn, that thing is like the Carl Lewis of computers. Meaning it's fast. You know. Like your women?

Oh, snap.

Hey Mac Rumaz posse, it's good to be back.

The speed differential ought to be enough to make time go backwards for him. I know when I went from my B/W G3 400 full set up to my new Dual/Ghz/DDR it made time stand still. I have adjusted somewhat to the every day tasks but when I do serious stuff it still makes my mind boggle.

Congratulations teabgs!! I remember that when I bought the PowerBook G4 550Mhz it was a big diference from the iMac 333Mhz that I have and still use in the office. And then I bought the PowerMac G4 DP 1Ghz( QuickSilver one)... Man, that thing is fast! Really fast!!!! Twice as fast then the PB! It's amazing! Now... I can't imagine how does the jump from a 6500 ---> DP 1.25Ghz feels like! Must be the diference between Heaven and Hell! Congratulations again on your Purchase!

One more thing teabgs... can you take photos from the packaging? Please...

That was a huge jump! Just proof again that a Mac is worth the extra cash.

Will it be 8 years until your next hardware update??

teabgs
Oct 3, 2002, 07:04 AM
hehehe....no it wont be 8 years till the next upgrade. I'll be out of college and (hopefully) have a real job where I make some money. So it'll be easier to save.

ALright....the posting had to be stalled for a few reasons.....

When I first got her, I opened her up and put in that extra 1.5GB Ram :D
then I fired her up and..........UH OH....Where's the hardrive?

*note: I had previously been in a VERY boring class and decided it would be more fun to be in the class drunk. </note>

Because of this I thought, maybe I put the ram in wrong, even though I was pretty much sober at this point.

didnt work.

OK, maybe the HD isnt connected.....it SHOULD be and that wouldnt make sense, but maybe......

AND, then it turns out the HD wasnt connected

SO then I hooked it up and started her.

(it gets good now)

I would have posted last night except I was transfering my files from the 6500 (a la ethernet  ) and watching some tv. Then I remembered I have a midterm at 9:30...which I havent really done any of the readings, own the books, studied.....and I should at least get some sleep so I can pass it.

THIS THING IS FAST. I turned around when restarting it for the ethernet to work....and it had started up.
 :D

So, I did it again.....DAMN!!!! The thing cold boots in 12 seconds!!!!!

MY 6500 takes about 4 minutes!!!!

I still have much to do in the way of setup, and unfortunately after my midterm have to goto work for a few hours and have 2 more classes and cannot get back to my baby untl 9:30 earliest tonight.....:(

PS....it is kinda noisy with the fans....But thats ok, I dont mind ;)

Does it have 10.2.1 if so what version? My Dual/Ghz/DDR would cold boot to login screen in 28secs when I got it after installing 10.2.1 it became 35secs and yes I have fixed permissions and everything else I could think of. 12secs sounds unbelievable though. I heard the new 1.25s were shipping with a later revision of 10.2.1. Maybe the newer version fixed something.

Enjoy enjoy I know I do with my new one. I sure wish I could have come up with a reason for getting the 1.25. I guess it's just as well I didn't because like 2 days after ordering it I found out that the business I work for is closing so I may not have a job and couldn't have paid for the 1.25.

But sounds good teabgs - can't wait to here how the maya rendering goes, keep us posted.

I don't think the Mhz gap is enough to explain the difference in times so I wonder if it's the hard drive or the build of 10.2.1.

What kind of drives do you have in it?

wait, it didn't come with a drive plugged in?!?!? what the hell is that?

its just a 7200rpm IBM ultra ATA....

When I get everything installed we'll see if it still takes 12 seconds to startup....

It was an accident I swear. I'm sorry. You can use my machine if you want to for the rest of the year. And as soon as I get enough money I'll buy you a new one of those pretty computers.

I'm sorry, dude. It was totally an accident. Maybe we could put it in the box again and claim the USPS screwed us over.

$10,000 and five years in jail for the dual 1.21 jiggawatts, or whatever. Works out for me. I'll take the fall. Don't you worry about a thing.

Sorry.
