View Full Version : What's wrong with you?

Probably a misleading title, but to continue on a similar theme as the "What makes your blood boil" and "What makes you happy" threads, what do you dislike about yourself? What are your bad habits, or the things you do that you know annoy the hell out of people but you just can't stop doing them?
I'd start with a few of my own, but I'm shy :o.
On second thought, make that my character flaw #1... Along with my tendency to get beet red in the face whenever all the attention is on me.
In addition to your bad habits and personality deficits, what do you consider your best attribute?

I bite my nails
I am a bit of a slacker (ie. procrastinate)
I am overconfident at times
I am a little overweight
I am a compulsive technology buyer and subsequently seller - Gadgets and Macs are my weakness!
The list goes on, but I am totally happy with what I have done so far in life so despite my shortcomings, I will continue to live life at its fullest. :D

Cool, glad you like the thread Daveway. I thought it might spark some constructive self-criticism (and healthy boasting). :)
I'll jump in now:
-I'm also way too nice to people and let them basically walk all over me. Assertiveness is just not "me".
- I have a bad habit of leaving my towel on the floor of the locker room after showering at the gym. Shameful.
- I'm extremely, inexplicibly anal when it comes to the organization inside my refrigerator, of all things... I'm constantly shifting things around and everything has to be in the right spot. Drives my boyfriend up the wall.
- I have a bad habit of rarely cleaning my shower, although the rest of my bathroom is always scoured regularly.
As for my strong points, I'm a pretty good cook, a decent writer, and I can haul a 35-lb. pack on my back over mountainous terrain (and actually enjoy it). Oh yeah, and I'm very nice to people! :) (It can be a good thing, too.)

I really hate it when slackers are rewarded for their slackerness and the hard workers get nothing but ****!
And i'm terribly addicted to right clicking and "show package contents" on almost everything i come across on my mac! :D

:eek::eek::eek: you have 3? :eek::eek::eek:
my biggest flaws are: being a complete asshole when working on a group project at school, i'm really bossy, i'm a spoiled brat, i'm very overweight, and i watch entirely too much tv. oh, and one of my balls is also about twice the size of the other, although i only have two. doesn't hurt though. i also love pirating stuff; sometimes ill just find something illegal, download it, then delete it from my hard drive because it feels good just to download illegal things.

I trust people too much, making me very gullible at times. I also have tend to be anal about social interaction, often revisiting a past encounter over and over in my mind, searching for even the most minor of mistakes.
On the brighter side of myself, i've got alot of talent for film, photography, and music. I notice things many others don't, whether its something in the distance, a faint sound, or merely appreciating the beauty of a starlit sky. This is a power, and I intend on sharing my vision with those around me.

I am a pessimist...Mr Murphy does not like me at all
If something can go wrong I have to plan on it going wrong, and it generally does go wrong plus extra stuff that no one sane could plan for.
I dont like most people, and teen/tween girls annoy the hell out of me
Hate babies and little kids
I am intolerant of intolerant people...
I get migraines that require hospitalization more than 3 times a month
and I keep breaking bones and tearing ligaments/tendons, I have broken virtually every bone in my body except any of the long bones...
On the good side I am extremely loyal, and when people need someone they can trust they come to me. Animals like me. I am good with computers. I can talk in front of large groups and enjoy it.
My IQ is above normal. I have a weird sense of humour.
I have the normal number of fingers and toes. I am a very good cook.
and thats about all the good stuff...

• I can be incredibly lazy if I allow myself.

• When I'm writing emails or posts, I spend way too much time drafting and rewriting them through (although you wouldn't guess by the finished results). :D

I can't spell for ****
I am very lazy when it comes to stuff I don't like doing
I am very opinionated and am too fast to push it on people

I could loose a few pounds
I hate most of my coworkers, again becuase of there/my political views
I listen to NPR way too much
I use to and too in the wrong places
I am trying to work on a few of these. Its kind of a project of mine to be a better person.

I'm wordy in my posts. By that I mean that sometimes I'll take things that could be short, but stretch them longer because I'm very cognizant of the fact that this type of exchange (meaning the written word) often leads to communication problems (i.e., misunderstanding of my intent). As a result, I... Dammit. Did it again.
I'm a smartass.
I expect too much of others.

I bite my nails a lot, and it's a bad habit I'd like to change. Yeah, like that's going to happen.
I tend to whistle a lot, absent-mindedly, and this probably annoys people around me. One of my college roommates politely put up with it for almost a year before he finally had to break down and tell me it was driving him crazy.
I'm not fearless or reckless, but I am pretty self-confident about most challenges that I take on. I consider this a good thing, but it really annoys my wife that I'm not more plagued with self-doubt.
I'm really a stickler for grammar and spelling, and so when friends, co-workers, etc. ask me to proofread their writing, they sometimes get disgruntled when I return it all marked-up. If you don't want my opinion, don't ask for it. "Their" and "they're" mean completely different things even though they sound alike. Yes, there's a difference between "its" and "it's".
P.S. I also have Crohn's Disease, and although I dislike it, I don't consider it a bad habit or a character flaw.

Hard question ...
I'm not very good at expressing myself verbally. I tend to get stuck searching for words that fit my thoughts, and I also tend to get incoherent because I think things through as I speak and can not speak as fast as the thoughts pop up.
I get easily stressed by having commitments and appointments.
I procrastinate.
I'm not good at keeping in touch with distant friends and family.

Bad qualities
-I have 0 self control
-I procrastinate
-I am lazy
-I can be overly shy at times
Good Qualities:
-I don't need much self control because I avoid bad things. For example, I don't drink, so I don't need to worry about drinking too much (which I'd do if I did drink).
-I'm introspective
-I'm not a conformist

i keep telling myself i should run more. my parents were both marathon runners so its kinda in the family.
i get too worried/look too deep into things?
i honestly cant think of any! god im not perfect but my minds blocked!
but i suppose:
-i should work out more
-i should do more college work!
-i should spend less time on the internet (i think all those 3 are connected)
-i should draw more
-i post lots of messages on forums where people probably dont know or care about me
-i have a brilliant memory, even going back to when i was a few months old, BUT i forget important things constantly
+ive got iron in my soul
+i dont smoke or drink or take drugs
+im not lazy, but i do get distracted easily
+i dont get depressed (link with no drinking?) and i have a positive outlook on pretty much everything
+unless my girlfriend dies young (not a nice thought but) i will only have ever had sex with 1 person, through my choice alone. ties in with my strong moral thingy
oh yea im not religious and neither is anyone in my family but my 1 sexual partner, no smoke/drink etc values are all these cool little things i chose on my own. and i am very happy with life :)
