I'm pretty sure Applecare can only be transferred with the equipment that it was bought with, as the plan services a particular piece of hardware.

You can transfer Applecare to another individual with the hardware.

Check out the terms and conditions on the Applecare page:

http://www.apple.com/uk/support/products/overview.html

I might be reading it wrong, I'm not a lawyer, and it might be different for US Applecare, but I doubt it.

QUITE possible. I bought Applecare for my Powerbook off of some pawn shop on eBay and it all worked out very well.

Wasn't trying to slam him, just want to be clear.

It seems that Applecare needs to be registered and once registered, can only be transferred WITH the unit it's registered to.

I get Applecare with my machines at purchase, never had to worry about registering it after the fact.

If this is an unregistered Applecare then it seems to be OK, but I'd still check with Apple before purchasing.

Its a known fact you can purchase applecare after you purchase the machine. Many people do this because they simply want to find a deal on it, just as Jet did.

So Ruxspin, just post the full details and clear this up for everyone.
Too bad it wasnt for a G5 or a iBook... you would have had a deal.

Yep. You have one year. I just registered my Applecare for my PB a week ago, one day before it would be invalid. Cake.
