How does iPhoto "work"?

Hi guys.

does anyone know how iPhoto "works"? i mean, does anyone know how iPhoto "databases" (is this a word?) the pictures?

in the pictures/iphoto library folder iPhoto seems to create a random folder, and stores the pix "anywhere".

maybe someone can point me out to a link or explain, how iPhoto "works".

Actually, iPhoto creates folders based on the date the pictures were taken/imported.

For instance, if you import pictures on October 12, they will be in iPhoto Library>2002>10>12

that would be logical, albeit confusing.

is it just me, but i would rather have the folder named like this: "2002/10/02"

what happens if i import photos on:

2002 - 09 - 14

and 2002 - 10 - 14

would i have 2 "14" (sub)folders?

i do not have that!! much photos to import. maybe someone could comment on this.

yes you would.

and what iphoto does is take the name of that picture and put them in a file. The file contains all the info for that file, and when you make a book, that creates a new file which just links to these images blah blah blah.

like

and so on, and whenever it gets that file, it plugs in that info... theres a bunch of stuff, its basically like an Excel database kind of :D
