Opening mpgs in QT 6

I just downloaded an mpg to watch, but when I went to open it in QT 6, it said that a software componenet needed by the file was not found, and refused to open. Any ideas?

If you're sure it's an MPEG and not another format with an unsupported codec, the file is probably corrupt.

I have been having a similar problem.

Most of mine play fine but some have the software component message
