I was really looking forward to opening a bottle of wine and watching a good ole' fashioned two-hour-long Stevenote tonight...only 1 hour. Blah.

Yes. But oh well.
Related question: how many people aren't even going to bother?

Tell me about it!
Here's a brief summary of the keynote:
We've sold a lot of stuff, thanks.
Here's some news to rock your world: We're moving completely to intel.
Don't worry though, cos we've actually been doing this all along, and have some neat stuff to confuse you and try to convince you not to worry and you should still go out and buy a $3000 computer with a chip that will not be in use in 2 years..
Here's a few more people to tell you not to worry: CEOs of other companies.
Here's some free stuff so you don't feel too bad.
Nothing else - Bye!
They could at least have had a product/significant update!

I'm still somewhat of a newbie, less than a year switched, so I'm curious: Wouldn't WWDC have announcements dealing with OS and other Apple conferences deal with product announcements? Is there a trend?
EDIT: also, it seems the discussions aren't focusing on the fact that (in the CNBC interview) Steve alluded to several developments of new product lines in regard to the Intel chip.

not to mention thinking about new stuff that was introduced at the WWDC! what a letdown, i really miss the introduction of new/better/faster hardware and now all we have is speculation about how/when this macintel switch will happen.

One lame hour, Steve looked like a freaking dork in those K-Mart pants and black shoes with no product announcements.
Worst. Keynote. Ever.
Black shirt, jeans, white shoes, Steve.

I believe the PowerMac G5 was announced at WWDC. So sometimes big product announcements are definitely made there.

No, he wore jeans at Macworld. ;)
The last keynote I flipped out at was the intro of the iPod mini.

I'm always amazed when the dictionary tool reveals that I am, in fact, using real words. :D I'm never quite sure. And now I'm feeling bad though, about making fun of Roz Ho's voice. I hope she doesn't have some sort of motor impairment. :( But, please, for the love of God, stop saying "MacBew," crazy lady!

It's nice to know that words you are using are real, especially when they are good words.

Hehehe.... Microsoft calls it's Mac-folk the MacBU (Mac Business Unit). And Mohan thinks that Mac-Bee-You sounds much better than MacBew. :D But then again, Mohan was also always partial to Mac OS Ex. Which places me firmly in the heretic camp, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth, and not even a Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading can keep you warm at night. :D

ooooooooooooOOoOoooooooooh.
that's silly!
But perhaps funny, maybe I will watch this keynote, for comedic value, Jobs wearing all black, a grown woman who sounds like she's 4, you know, this is starting to sound like that vault of horrors photoshop thread from a while ago.
Oh yeah, I always called it Ex.
Sorry if that offends anyone, I hope I haven't lost too many friends on this board.

So I wasn't the only one then... Never heard her before, but that voice just got on my nerves.
I don't like math and care absolutely nothing about Mathematica, but the Wolfram guy seemed so enthusiastic, it was actually fun and interesting :p

I thought that part was great...I was rolling on the floor. :) I like it when execs can be good sports. Larry Ellison should start coming to Apple keynotes. :D
Oooh, speaking of good reasons to watch the keynote...was anyone else duly impressed by how fast the Pentium 4 with Rosetta Stone ran Mac Office? Not too shabby....Most of the apps that they demoed with Rosetta seemed to be faster on the P4/3.6 than on my iBook G4/800... which, laugh all you want, is better, from my understanding, than what VPC provides in the other direction, and is better than what I've seen for most emulators.

I've always been a bit sceptical about emulation, but I am anxious to see what this will look like.
I'm getting more and more reasons to watch the keynote.
Looks like I'll be watching it tonight when I get home from work.

LOL, I'm trying to decide if that would be better or worse than getting an Intel Inside sticker on the palmrest of the next iBook. I *know* I'm not going to buy it if it has the sticker...my vote is still out on Jobs in a tie. For some people, a tie is a natural expression of style. For others, it's like a leash around their neck, and he seems to be in the latter camp.

Get into the chemistry lab now... If they come with stickers, there will be a new Mac accessory channel -
iScrape - gets rid of stickers without residue
iChameleon - patches that cover stickers and match your Mac's exterior

Yes, sometimes. The G5 (and last year the 30" Cinema) was definitely of major interest to developers, so it probably made sense to announce there. I know everyone's complaining that there were no new product anonuncements, but I for one found it refreshing. This keynote was about huge things in Mac development, and didn't waste too much time on consumer stuff (aside from the obligatory patting themselves on the back in the beginning... ). It might have been nice to have more details on what Intel processors will go in future Macs (it seems clear that it WON'T be the P4, that'll only be for the developer preview kits) but there's a lot of time between now and the expected launch of the first systems, so they probably don't know for sure themselves.
