OMG - 25 years - a quarter century since the world was turned upside dows with the invention of Pac Man. Happy Birth Day little guy!!!!
Where were you???
I remember being in a crowd 3 to 4 deep at our local 7-11 store with pockets full of quarters and still more lined up on the machine... trying to see what fruit would come next..... :p
25 years.... wow....

I had just started my paper route about the time Pac-Man came out - so I had plenty of quarters to spend. But I still never got past about the first maybe 20 levels, I don't think, unlike the guy who got a perfect score (there were 256 levels).
Then Donkey Kong came out, and I forgot all about Pac-Man.

I was -4, but what a statement for Pac-Man! 25 years old and you can still buy it (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001GBROQ/qid=1118935018/sr=8-3/ref=pd_csp_3/103-5961800-3135824?v=glance&s=videogames&n=507846) in stores.
The aforelinked, I must say, is insanely addictive. Recommended for enlivening v. boring parties. Pac-Man to the rescue..

I didn't play much Pac-Man -- I was prime gaming age when it came out (13), but I was more of an Asteroids/Defender guy myself. But I did read the book and eventually was able to clear 15 or so levels.

Well I was 5 when it came out...not sure if I cared about it or not. However it was the first video game I ever played. One Christmas my parents bought an atari 2600, and hid it under the TV with a blanket. After my brother and I opened up all our presents we got up thinking we'd move on to our traditional Christmas brunch. My dad asked my brother to get him the blanket under the TV.... When he pulled that blanket off and saw the atari there with Pac man cartrige already in we freaked! I have a feeling I was older than 5 when that happend, but all in all a very good day and a fond memory... still don't know if we ate anything till supper that night. ;)

I was 9 going on 10 and 6 geeks deep in the local arcade with a pocketful of quarters ready. The second week after it's release a teenaged burnout who worked in the arcade made a small fortune by opening the 10 consoles and loading them up with 30 games for $5.00 or 70 games for $10.00 - all of which he pocketed. I remember when Pac Man came out for the Atari 2600 - what a disappointment.
