iPod recognition with two computers.

I have a 17" flat screen iMac and a dual usb 500 mHz iBook. I mainly use my iMac for listening to music. But I use my iBook to run virtual PC and run kazaa. So I want to put some of the music from my iBook onto my iPod. Everytime I plug my iPod into my iBook it doesn't recognize it. It NEVER shows up in iTunes or on the desktop or anything. When I plug it into my iMac it works just fine. Any thoughts?

yes, im pretty sure that you can only use it on one computer

there are some really simple command line commands you can use (they are on the web if you search) that will allow you to transfer your entire music library to another computer. unfortunately, the cute apple interface as you know it will only work with one computer at a time, i think (itunes only) you should be able to mount the drive on another mac, i have

you can transfer your iPod content to another computer with this program.

If you have the computers networked, just mount the folder that has the music you want to transfer, then iTunes and iPod think it is local to that computer and will sync correctly. Kind of a shame they made it work that way, I bet many people have a portable as well as desktop Mac.
