So true. Someone might have typed that word in his keywords in the HTML code.

Nice search Google!

Well, the liberals win by having Bush first, but the conservatives come in a close second by having Moore second...

A bit of research brought up this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb) Wikipedia entry on Google Bombing. Very cool :D

Definitely an easter egg. Notice that failure is not even cached in the pages. ;)

ahh, programers and the neato things they do to make themselves and the occasional tech-savvy geeks smile :)

wasn't there a time when you could search on 'evil' and the first link was Microsoft....

Funny, though.

Note that "miserable failure" works just as well, and also brings up a BBC article about this particular Google bombing.

Whats even funnier is that the word "failure" appears absolutely nowhere on GWB's bio, nor in the metatags... Guess it must be a special Google easter egg.

Google ranks pages based on the links to the site, as well as the site content. So a lot of people just had links to that page marked "failure". But not really. Read the wiki page above on googlebombing.

It's not an Easter Egg, just an interesting side effect of how Google ranks pages and keywords. Look up the previously linked articles on Google Bombing if you want to know more about the particulars.

Yes, I know, but several people keep referring to it as an Easter Egg, even after the Google Bombing was mentioned. Just wanted to clarify it for future readers.

there use to be one like this for weapons of mass destruction but I can't get it to work now.

I also noticed it works for Yahoo...
