Okay, I'm loving my ten-month-old iPod, but the Apple earphones just don't cut it: they're too big and they hurt my ears. I'm ready to buy some replacement ones.

What do you guys recommend? Here are my requirements: I'd like to spend less than $60; I'd like good, nonmetallic sound; and I'd like a small, earbud style design. The Sony Fontopia ones on the Apple Store website look good, but I wonder how they sound? And does anyone have a better suggestion?

I'm all ears....

I know that feeling, especially when that grey protection thing keeps slipping off.

I recommend going down to your local RadioShack and picking up their version of earplugs for about $15. (I got the blue version instead of the black.) It may take a few days getting used to the feel, but it's well worth molding your ears into the feel of the bud. :)

You'll be able to tell the difference clearly, when you go back to your iPod earplugs, how much more "noise" comes out than "sound".
