I have a windows formatted external hard drive and im trying to make a backup of my powermac's harddrive so that i can restore all my apps onto the new (replacement) powermac im getting. When i click get info, under the permissions, it says it is formatted as a windows NT 4 ...It says it is read only. How do i change this....Please respond as im in a time pickle
Is there a way to change it to mac format?

I dont know what jounald is, but the icon that says enable jounaling is greyed out...this is not my lacie harddrive...it is a different hd

Even the erase option is greyed out

Journald? Not sure what that is.
I would say use Disk Utility and re-format as a Mac OS extended Volume I think its called HFS+ as well.

In Disk Utility, try this: first, make sure that you click on the left / top most entry for the drive -- it should start with the drive size and list the manufacturer. Then, click on the partition tab. If you see a closed lock icon in the box in the middle, click it till it opens. Under volume scheme, choose "1 partition." Give it a name, choose the format "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and then hit the partition button.
