I keep seeing speed test that show the G5 2.5ghz is faster. Which one is it? Look here:

I have also heard that the 2.7ghz model is quiter than the 2.5ghz one. Does anyone have any experience using both that can shed some light on this? I bought a 2.5ghz from Compusa for $2700 out the door and then saw the Macmall 10% off deal and thought I could get the 2.7ghz for the same price so I ordered it and am preparing to take back this 2.5ghz to compusa but now I am having second thoughts.

And then they say the Radeon 9650 in the 2.7ghz is slower than the radeon 9600xt in the 2.5ghz.

Well, according to the MacWorld benchmarks (http://www.macworld.com/2005/05/news/powermacbenchmarks/index.php), the only thing slower is the video card. So if you're using the computer exclusively for gaming, you might be better with the dual 2.5, but the dual 2.7 should be faster for everything else.

The Dual 2.7 is faster than the Dual 2.5 GHz PowerMac. I would just get the Dual 2.7 GHz and exchange the video card out on it. You can get an ATI Radeon 9600XT on eBay for the PowerMac G5 fairly cheap. Or possibly upgrade to an ATI X800/X850 for $400 in the future.
