Not bad for a relatively new product. Perhaps Apple will take this seriously and release some XServe's with some more features like redunant power and hot swappable drives.

.... that's an estimate for 3rd quarter of this year for domestic sales. they don't even show up for international.
what IS heartening is that, compared to q301, they increased sales some 274%.

Oops my bad, they are hot swappable. (Last time I listen to my Mac buddy without checking facts.)
Can anybody confirm if you can setup RAID level 5 on the xServe?

it is also heartening to realise the fact that apple only sells 3 configs!! Unlike the other companies 50+!!

I am not positive, but i dont think the xServe has hardware RAID of any kind.

But can you configure RAID via software?

It's the redundant power supplies it's really missing. SCSI drives would be a good addition too but that would add mightily to the price.
XServe has the same software RAID that any Mac OS X machine has. You could always add a PCI card though.

Xserve has software RAID 0 or 1, the Xraid (3U RAID server) coming out sometime this year will have hardware RAID - 4 dedicated controllers, I believe.
