Lets say you are at home, you know a movie or tv show is coming on in 40-50 mins what do you order?

There is a pizza place 1 min walk from where i live and i always get that.

damn this forum making me so hungry! :D

I'll eat anything quick - usually if I have 40 minutes plus I will order take-out. (what that is depends on a few factors, but I get chinese a lot. I order Italian from another place quite a bit too)

I find myself with a bowl of cereal an awful lot... that is my main staple. hah

man for some reason this never happens anymore, to busy most of the time. Pizza hut if i have an hour or sit on my ass for another 30min before the show starts and then go grab some taco bell.

Definitely pizza.

I could eat it all day every day, and I have the gut to prove it. :D

$3.17 total for a big cup of Hot and Sour soup that I order for take out from a Chinese restaurant. Very good stuff, very good price.

There's also a Vietnamese restaurant that I live for, but it's too expensive for me to get all the time. I'm there once a week at least, though.

My favorites (quick things to eat at home)

Pizza - either takeout or lean cusine pizza.
Kraft mararoni and cheese
Microwave popcorn
Singapore noodles from the supermarket
Cereal - cherrios, cinnamon toast crunch (which was mentioned in another post) or lucky charms
Or tofu in hot sauce or sesame chicken with brown rice from the Chinese restaurant near me.

Pizza.

Incidentally, Pizza is the number one food consumed by americans and outsells hamburgers.

In the US, the Pizza industry (http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node=pizza) generates $35bn a year. 350 slices of pizza are
consumed each second in the US; That's about 3 billion pizzas a year.

Just about anything. Recently I've been going for half a peanut butter sandwich but Pizza is sounding really really good.

Back in college there was a pizza place 1 block from my apartment. I would call in a large cheese pizza before leaving campus and by the time I got there the pizza was coming out of the oven. I gained 20 pounds that year.

...Must...resist...urge...to...say...pu$$y! Doh!

Indian. Chicken korma, peshwari nan, onion bajee & a couple of popodum with onion, chutney and mint (but they always forget either the onion, chutney or mint. Would it kill them to write everything down just once!)

It can be difficult to get hold of. It's even harder to find a really fresh one!

Sorry while I could go a lot further I will not be drawn lower.

I always enjoy a good salad. To have a healthy diet each day it's important to eat more fruits and vegetables, at least six servings.

Hmm.. if I'm really hungry?
I say, screw the TV show, and I'll head out to this vietnamese sandwich shop.

Yeah, it's a dive
and probably really dirty

BUT IT IS SOOO DELICIOUS!!!

I get a tofu sandwich every time (I'm a vegetarian)
The sandwich is on a baguette, and has cilantro, caramelized onion, picked carrot, a stick of cucumber, and the tofu (it can come with a pepper and spicy mayo if you want.. but.. EW.)

The tofu is fried. It is sooooo good. It's dipped in cornstarch and some seasoning, and then deep fried. They slice it up to put on the sandwich.

When I get one, I always put enough soy sauce on it to make the bread gooey and squishy and oh.. salty and delicious and so un-nutritious.

THEN, on the side, they ahve these things called mung bean balls.
They are about the size of my fist (and I have abnormally large viola/violin player ape-hands, so they're big!!). The outside of the ball is covered in sesame seeds, the outside shell of the ball is glutinous rice paste (I think..) formed around a tiny ball of mung bean. It's sweet. The ball of mung bean is about the size of a golf ball, so it can roll around the inside of the outer shell.

OMG, it's sooo frigging good.
AND IT IS SO CHEAP!!
$2 for a sandwich and 50 cents for the mung bean ball. They are super-filling.
$2.50 for a complete lunch.. Mmmmm.... SO GOOD.

Yeah, they're slow, but so is starbucks and you still go there!! :) :)

OH, if anyone in Houston wants to try the sandwiches (you TOTALLY should. They are AWESOME) the place is in the Hoa Binh Market on 2800 Travis. It's called Givral's Sandwich shop.
Don't go to the other vietnamese sandwich shop. They suck. A lot.
Go to Original Givral's.

Oh man, I want one.. but it's a 20 minute drive!!! :( :( :( :(:( :(
I guess I'll go have some cereal now. *pouting*

(No, I didn't wake up at 3 in the afternoon... don't look at me like that for eating cereal at this hour..) :D ;)

40 minutes is enough to cook a proper meal. eg. rice with soem nice vegetable sauce ... rice and beans (pre-cooked, all the way home, no canned beans) with tortillas, frittata ... i never order pizza but 3 of the 5 other people i live with sometimes do. :)
