Well, I did it. I bought something made by Microsoft, and it works better than the equipment it replaced  After well over a month (probably two) of trying to get this Linksys Wireless G Game Adapter (WGA54G) to work with my XBox, I finally gave in a got the Microsoft wireless adapter. It's smaller, and can be set up directly from the XBox Dashboard. The Linksys requires a PC (GASP! ) to be set up properly. Now, as far as I can tell, this particular piece of equipment work perfectly. It sat around for a while just letting its LED's glow, while I tried to find a way to set it up. Lo and behold, my brother asks me to pick him up at the airport after a business trip, for which they supply him a laptop (it's a pretty crappy Dell, but it'll do). I plug it into the adapter, insert the CD, run the setup utility, set it up to work (it even saw the right network). Plug it into the XBox, nothin'! So it sat around some more, until I got the MS brick a few days ago.

I contemplated getting this a while back for my XBox because I wanted to set it up in my room and our entire house is wireless. I decided on the XBox wireless adapter as well and couldn't be happier. I found it on amazon.com for $60 brand-new and the signal strength is great. I do know people who got this particular adapter to work with their XBox, but as you said, they set it up with a PC.

I think I forgot to mention that this supposedly works with GameCube (with broadband adapter) and PS2 as well.

To anyone going to MacWorld tomorrow: if you send me a PM in time (I plan to be there for the Mac Mini home automation presentation), bring $50, and it's yours.
