http://www.alexa.com ranks sites by traffic.

A few caveats... it only tracks windows users, and only users who have the alexa toolbar installed.

So, amongst Windows users with the Alexa Toolbar, Macrumors appears to be the 5th most popular Mac/Apple related site on Alexa as far as I can tell...

#171 - Apple.com
#8,246 - MacCentral.com
#9,867 - Versiontracker.com
#22,581 - MacNN.com
#34,212 - MacRumors.com
#44,992 - MacOSRumors.com
#54,668 - ThinkSecret.com
#60,968 - Spymac.com
#61,719 - MacSurfer.com
#77,036 - MacInTouch.com
#229,412 - MacMinute.com

Great for that little niche - what sort of numbers do your stats show as to total amount of pc users vs mac users visting the site?

That's great to see but you could actually illiminate versiontracker.com because they have a windows and palm tracker. So there's no saying that they are going there for Mac stuff. That would put us in 4th!

Ironic how there are that many Windows users with Alexa installed roaming these websites...

but still...#5 is awesome! :D

Congratulations, but I think MR deserves better. It is truly the best mac rumors site out there. Doesn't make bogus claims (spymac), and has a great forum, with a great community. I hope the community grows, and grows, and that MR will be #1 someday. Congrats :D.

great work, arn! i was surprised not to see ATAT on that list, but maybe its readership has been lagging due to inconsistent updates.

Hey If they counted the number of Mac users with that too I'm sure we would beat Macnn easily:) But its good to see that that many Windows users go to Apple:)

I posted this earlier, but I guess it got removed, weird.

I went looking around alexa.com and saw that they had a link to other pages that mention MacRumors.com. On top of the list was bbc.com and it had a link to a bbc forum that had a member mention a good mac site - but it seemed a little random that that particular link would get bbc.com on top of the list.

But good job arn! :D

Hey, Apple is still ahead of Gateway. Apple = 174, Gateway = 651!

Ummm....probably most of those people are Mac Users surfing from their job-mandated Windows boxes at work (like me). As nice as this site is, I seriously doubt that macrumors.com (or most any mac related site aside from the mothership for that matter) would ever show up on the radar screen of any casual windows user.

Me too, I visit this site everyday I'm at work. Well I visit it from home as well, but there's nothing else better to do at work :)
