Not enough people buying the coffee cups?

I have notice that on the top of forum pages there are now advertisements for Macrumors coffee cups and apple stock and other various computer accessories. Is Macrumors not generating enough just through donations? Do they need advertisments to fund the site?

I think the MacRumors Store ads are new -- but there have been ads at the top of the forum pages for quite some time.

They were all General Cybernetics ads for a while.

I like the store ads, although the text doesn't look very smooth to me.

I didn't notice the ads before. They just seemed to pop out to me today.

When Coke and Pepsi start advertising on people's contact lenses, I'll start worrying.

Of course looking at people with the Nike swoosh on their eyeballs would be a little disturbing anyways.

Forum Ads have been there for more than 3-4 months now - probably longer, I don't remember when they actually were first placed... but General Cybernetics ads were there up until today... but perhaps you just got used to them and tuned them out. :) They just finished their campaign so I moved back to the default ads.

As for ads on MacRumors in general. MacRumors is primarily funded via ads... donations to date would have only funded the site for less than 2 months.

So, support out sponsors... :)

I would, but I'm really tight on money right now.
I've got the $30 for a mug, but I need to save everything I've got until I can find a way to replenish it quickly and so far, nothing.
Still trying though. Someday, hopefully soon.

no biggie man... people can contribute in their own way. New Current Events, quality posts etc... are all good.
