I jsut installed the new crucial 1 gig memory into my ibook. I was able to open up imovie, ical, idvd, garageband, firefox, aim and a porno without any slowdown! PRetty kickass! However, I'm getting paranoid that I might have damaged my RAM when I was installing it. My comp says 1.5 GB but I was realy struggling to put the ram in when I installed it because I have never istalled notebook memory before. I worry that I damaged my RAM because after I closed all those apps, I was typing this msg but I noticed a humoungous delay between my typign and the words appearing on screen. I had to reboot in order to get the typing delay to stop. Could I have damaged my ram at all?

Did you a) stand on carpet while installing it and b) ground yourself? If you stood on carpet then you aren't allowed to walk around or you would generate static which would damage it. Otherwise, it should be fine and it was probably just a one-off or something.

Oh yea I was sitting down on a chair, with my feet grounded on carpet. I touched the metal part of the ibook before installing it to make sure I was grounded. I guess I'm just expecting a SUPER DUPER performance boost when the boost just feels very minimal right now.

The battery status light on the battery instelf won't turn off when I plug the computer into a wall socket. Is that normal...?

Yes. That shows you about what level your battery is at without you having to open the lid.
