Pls Help! Pgm unable to read wav file - why?

I am using Deck 3.5 (OS X 10.2.1) to load .wav files and even though it "sees" the files in the open dialog - they are greyed out -- and it won't load them.
The files were created on a DOS disk by another program.
I tried changing the type to wav with file typer but that doesn't help
any ideas?

2. How does it work?
3. Are you sure it reads WAV files.
er... 4. have you tried using the 'open with' contextual menu, or dragging the files onto the program?
