difference in cpu speed

do you guys think .11ghz in cpu speed is really that much of a noticable difference? I dont think it is.

If I get the 12'' iBook with 1g of RAM and 80gig HD it will cost me $100 less than a 14" with the same RAM and HD. only difference is the .11ghz in speed. and of course the fact that the 14" had bigger pixels than the 12 which really, if you dont need glasses or contacts, which i dont use, probably wont really be worth much.

So i think the 12" sounds like a better deal if i get the gig of ram and 80gig hd, dont you?

I definetly agree with you there, the RAM and HD are way more important that the .11ghz. That and the 12" form factor rocks.

I think most people get the 14" iBook over the 12" because of the Superdrive option or the fact that their eyesight (or just plain preference) makes them like big pixels better than small.

I don't think many get it for speed, even though ~7% faster CPU and, lets not forget on the new iBooks, faster Bus should make it noticeable faster at some (non HD intensive) tasks. :)

i dont know what ram that price includes, but don't get ram from apple! get it from somewhere else and install it yourself. places ive seen recommended here:

although i got generic ram for my emac from newegg and it worked just fine, it's generally a good idea to get stuff that's guaranteed to work in a mac.

i don't think that the faster cpu and faster bus are noticable in real life. only when you take a stopwatch and measure photoshop filters you will see a difference. in word, excel, powerpoint, pages, keynote you won't even know if it's a 1.2 ibook or 1.5 PB.

go for the formfactor you like. that's what you notice.

Don't forget you can get a third party 1 Gb module for 1.5 Gb total, for the same price Apple chages for their 512 Mb...

No you'll get the 512 soldered and another user replaceable 512 chip.

Go with the 12" iBook G4 - the whopping 90MHz speed difference will be negligible if even noticeable. If you need a faster laptop then go with a
1.67GHz PowerBook G4, otherwise the 12" iBook G4 should work fine for you.
