Noooooo, dead memory slot in PB...

It seems as though my Powerbook has lost it's memory (well half anyway)
The upper slot has died. :( :(
I swapped the boards over just to make sure it is the slot.
A quick call to a dealers and suspisions are confirmed.
Looks like I'll be back to using my 5300 for a couple of weeks ;)

My Powerbook hasn't been more than 10 feet away from me in 275 days!
Maybe it had enough and fancied a break!!

Unlucky bartelby - you're joining a growing number of us with the same problem. Just to check though, it is the upper slot and not the lower slot? Most (if not all) of us poor folks with the problem brought on by 10.3.9/10.4.x have lower memory slot failures...
Since moving to the 15" I gotten rid of all my other computers, and as I use it at home and work I haven't managed to find convenient time to get it repaired at the Regent Street store. I did get a 1GB chip so the problem is minimise, but it still needs sorting out at some point. I guess that might happen if I get one of the rumoured new PB's....
If turnaround was a day or so I'd take it in now, but as the cure is a new logic board it'll take a while...... :(

Oh yeah, I knew I'd forgotten to do something I'll back it up later tonight.

This is the first Apple product I've had in 10 years that's had a problem so I'm not too p*ssed off about it.

Definitely. Forgot to do that when I sent mine in the first time, but I got lucky.
