Hi all,

I work for a racial justice nonprofit in Oakland, California - we have about 18 staffers not including interns. Like a lot of nonprofits, we've been faced with diminishing resources over the past few years. Right now, we're in sore need of some technology upgrades, which are very hard to fund through foundation and individual donors.

So, if you're in the SF Bay Area (or wouldn't mind shipping), here's what we could really use:

* Working LCD monitors of any size
* Working CRT monitors 17" or larger
* Working G4 or better Macs, any speed, any model, most likely any configuration as long as it is a whole unit

In exchange, we can provide a donation letter with the value of your item (and shipping costs, if necessary) noted so that you can use it as a tax writeoff for you or your business.

I've been trying to keep us on a Mac network, but currently we're all on "Five flavors" G3 iMacs with only a few exceptions. What we were able to afford this year were two Minis, but that's about the limit of our budget for computers.

To learn more about what my organization does, please feel free to visit http://www.arc.org.

Thanks kindly! Please email me directly at tech@arc.org, or respond to this thread.

Hi yourself! I've checked out ACCRC before, but do you ever get Macs there? Seems like an all-PC outlet, and the application mentions only Pentium I/75 placements...

Too bad I can't glue four 14" monitors together and call it a 28" monitor. I don't know what to do with leftover (and working) 14" CRTs. And I'm a little far south to walk in and hand them to you.

Might be a cute art project...

We've had folks on the 14"-15" CRTs in the past, a few of whom have wound up with serious eye strain - since part of our work is research-based, that puts folks on the computers a lot. One unfortunate former staffer wound up with bifocals. :eep:

Thanks for thinking of us, though!

Cool, thanks - our iMacs are currently the tray-loading and five-flavors variety, and are getting too aged for everyday work. If they have some of the faster G3 (500 MHz+) iMacs, that might work for us - otherwise, we're really looking to move the G3s to active retirement and get the rest of the staff onto G4s of any variety.
