My refurb PM came in after returning a DOA one. It has 1gb ram instead of 512 and 128vid ram instead of 64!

That's awesome congrats... but couldn't you have just posted this in your "fedex waiting" thread instead of making another thread? ;) :D

I'm very happy for you. Glad that it arrived sooner than your anticipated time of 3pm.

I'm really glad it all worked out so well for you considering how well you handled your first machine.

When I read that you received the upgraded VRAM card, I wondered if they had accidentally sent you a Rev C, but I guess not since your signature says PCI-X. Your new machine does have 8 RAM slots right?

Very cool. I wonder how often these kind of things happen? My refurbished powerbook came with extras I didn't order.

my powerbook came with 768mb instead of 512, and 100gb instead of 80.

What kind of packaging does a refurb Powermac come in? Brown plain boxes? Thanks.

Finally, does anyone know the dimensions of the current retail Powermac boxes? if I buy one at Apple store, can it fit in a moderate size trunk? Thanks.

What kind of packaging does a refurb Powermac come in? Brown plain boxes? Thanks.Generally yes, at least with laptops, but I suppose it will vary, as it is a refurb after all. Also keep in mind that some "refurb" machines are actually discontinued models being sold at a discount, so those at least are probably in the original packaging.

Thanks. The older G5 PM boxes were big, but I'm pretty sure they'd fit in a car anyway. The new ones are smaller, or so I hear, so I'm reasonably certain they will.

Mine fit in the trunk of my Civic.

Barely.
