acrobat printing problem

Can anyone help me print pdf files? Preview prints very very slowly and until recently I used acrobat to much delight. However, for some reason whenever I print in acrobat it says "document can not be printed." This has happened on two machines and I do not know why nor how to fix it. Reinstalling acrobat doesn't seem to help. Any ideas??? help please.

Have you tried to delete the prefs (both for Print Center and Acrobat)?

You can also try to fix permissions (via the OS X boot CD Disk First Aid app)

I have tried repairing the permissions but that has worked to no avail.
