Well anyone that remembers my birthday and me ranting about my illness.

We may have found out what is causing my headaches that have been going on for 11 months.

I had an mRA on Saturday and apparently I have a cyst in my left maximalary sinus (9 mm in size). Which odly makes 4 cysts on my body that i know of.

I talked with a Dr. today at work and apparently a cyst in your head there can cause headaches with enough pressure and i can have minor surgery to get it removed.

Hopefully this is it, i go to my Dr next thursday and i wll bring it up.

Lets all hope. *crosses fingers*

Even more so if it's minor surgery. I hope that your doctor agrees that this is worth exploring, and that it leads to a cure for your headaches.

I go to my Dr next thursday for a botox injection and hopefully i can schedule a surgery afterwards to get rid of the cyst. And i talked to a nurse and i may just miss a day of school from the surgery. Because recently my head has been absolutely throbbing. Like nausous and almost throwing up pain.

That's awesome. I really hope that does the trick for you. I wish someone could find a cure for the migraines my wife and daughter suffer from.

They might... (http://www.rp-online.de/public/article/nachrichten/wissenschaft/medizin/104866) (German link)

It basically says that German scientists have found the part in the human genome responsible for migraines and can turn it off... shouldn't be too far off.

Have they tried taking a feverfew tablet each day (even when they have no migraine)? My mother used to get regular migraines (6 or more a year); since taking feverfew (recommended by an alternative healer), she's down to one or two. Might just be a placebo effect but it's worked for her.

Eva - good luck!

I'm very sorry to hear that eva01. A migraine headache can certainly be devastating, your symptoms are very typical. I have heard good things about botox being used for headaches, would help to relax muscles. My prayers are with you eva01, hope that the excision of the cysts will be uneventful. The cysts take up space and so the pressure can very easily cause the headaches. Will look forward to your update and a full recovery.

Well update time.

Nothing has helped i am still hoping the botox kicks in. My mother asked me if i want to take the year off of school to try and start going to more drs more often to find out what is causing whatever i have.

I have missed the past two days from the pain and it is getting worse.

I really am at a loss of what to do now. I know what my mother says is for the best but then it will just take that much longer before i get to med school and become a dr.

I have had a similar condition to yours for nearly 10 years and the specialists are still without a prognosis or cure. After all the neurological aspects were ruled out, I was shunted to the psych ward. Result: Aropax in the morn and Nortryptyline at night. Half zonked most of the day, but the pain has been moderated.

A few months ago I saw a musculoskeletal specialist and began a series of spinal injections. I understand it's only saline and an anaesthetic. If a remember correctly it's in the 6th vertebra area. The logic is that it's referred pain due to spinal troubles. I've had to suspend treatment after having a mild stroke a month ago.

These are only my personal experiences, but perhaps it may give another lead. I hope something will help your condition as I know just how delibitating it can be.

Cheers,
Grey Beard

I'm very sorry to hear of the decrease of your condition. Having chronic debilitating pain isn't an easy.

I agree that your mother is looking out for you best interest, so don't dismiss her out of hand. Only you know your body. I'm available if you want to chat online.

I think getting rid of the pain is more important than med school.

And how do you plan on being a doctor if you're always suffering from debilitating pain yourself? You'd be useless as a doctor as far as I'm concerned.

Get rid of the pain first. Your mum is right.
