View Full Version : Do you shave or trim........down there?

Pages : [1] 2

Abstract
Sep 2, 2005, 06:39 AM
How many of the guys at MR shave their netherregions? How about just a trim? Anyone ever shave the whole thing?

I did shave it all once, but after I shaved down there, it didn't look right because I was bald in the "pubic region," but my legs still had hair. I looked like an 11 year old with a weird hormonal problem. Anyway, so I had to shave the hair at or near my thighs. And while there isn't much hair on my chest, there's a bit near my bellybutton and below, so I had to shave THAT off so that everything matched.

Anyway, it was a big pain in the ass, and I think I'll just trim from now on......if I remember.

FAKE EDIT: I realize that in the "Who do you want to meet in real life" thread, we're sorta like a big family --- a group of friends, but am I sharing too much? :p

I shave my pubes & my rear-end!!! As for leg hair not matching - I just trim the leg hair otherwise I have gorilla legs!

Abstract
Sep 2, 2005, 07:30 AM
So you shave your pubes and trim the leghair around it? Isn't is weird to have a bald pubic region followed by some leg hair? Of course, if you trim, its easier for it to all blend together, so I'm thinking of trimming, not shaving.

And the fact that you shave your butt scares me. How hairy is it? How's your back? Is it hairy as well?

@Gekko: As do I. It looks bigger when it's shaved or trimmed. I wouldn't shave at first because you may scare her away, or worse yet, make her laugh.

LOL I NEVER imagined a thread like this to make an appearance on MR hahahah

In car forums and stuff I've seen it come up, but this is a first lol

Shaving I do not recommend. a)You will itch uncontrollably once the hair begins to grow back b)The whole 'hairless with a trunk' thing only looks good on elephants...meaning: unless you're a female, bald is not good ;)

I trim - not obsessively or anything, since it makes little difference, but it's nice to keep things neat lol

(Trimming will also expose more of "you", which will make "you" appear slightly larger. This directly will have no effect on anything, but the added confidence it may give you could play a role in things...if you catch my meaning...:) )

It's not quite so painful as people make out - although I guess with men having a lower pain threshold :p , they might see it differently!

As in, not necessarily life applicable (for me at least). I'm thinking about Women's Studies as a major... or Cultural Anthro w/ an emphasis on gender roles/sex. I find different cultures' ways of handling sex and all its surrounding hoopla very intriguing; not so much the act itself.

ok, since this did not take a hideous turn, i can answer that. i'll still try not to blush because of the topic.

in my experience it was charged by the "area" and how many sessions. (it takes more than one). legs were a fortune, any larger areas are, but it's not as bad as i thought price wise. some facilities charge way too much for substandard lasers, i did my homework and found a great place that did a wonderful job for a good price. i also bought the sessions 3 at a time and got a good deal for it. in total for "that" area it was about $700, and worth every penny. for a women it is a bit different though, i get the impression men want it to look like they are not naturally apish, trimmed, women want no hair or very very little... usually.. we are held to a different standard often times. i obliged, and i'm happy about it, hair is annoying anywhere (minus the top of my head)
thing to remember is that it is permanent. (thankfully)

it's a bit of a strange topic but i felt i should mention this option in case it interests someone. lasers do amazing things these days :)
no it didn't hurt that bad either, felt like being hit with a rubber band while the laser was on, when it was off there was no pain whatsoever.

Bah, the only couple times I shaved completely left me all itchy and red, probably wasn't using the right aftershave or whatever but it wasn't fun, now I just take a mustache trimmer and tidy everything up. Don't think I would ever wax on a regular basis though, always liked a bit of hair in that area. Legs are similar nowadays as well, I used to freak out if I didn't shave those regularly, now I can only stand to do those at least once a month or so just because the afterwards stubble is too uncomfortable and its just too high maitenence.

Eh.

Good to have really really sharp, clean blades... try to stay away from perfumed soaps, shaving gels/foams, and lotions if you have more sensitive skin. Aveeno's oatmeal shaving formulas have worked well in my book and you can pick them up at most places.

Thanks for all the tipsHaha, sorry, didn't catch your location. Like previously mentioned, baby oil will also work well... especially if you DO have access to a shower/bath then you could easily wash off the oiliness, unless you're going for that whole, "I am Thor and I have naturally shiny, pumped muscles and um, nether regions." Basically, the fewer and the more natural the ingredients, the less likely your skin will be irritated. Also, I have read that it is best to shave WITH the grain, as in, the direction your hair grows.

Myself: Almost all smooth as butta, leave a small patch... I found my partners like the scratchy scratch.

I love it! My current lover slacks off sometimes, so I withold the oral pleasure until she gets the hint: works every time.

I've had my entire nether region shaved for me once. I've had my ass crack done a couple times for me and do it myself every now and then when I can be bothered.

It's pretty innocent actually. They make a depilatory cream formulated just for men (women?) of African descent. It can be difficult for some African men to use a razor because of the skin's surface. Anyway, it's called "Magic Shave" and has a photo of a handsome African fellow on the container. Follow the instructions... but be creative/careful too. It is meant to be used on faces. I found that using the handle of a plastic spoon works great to remove the cream and hair once you apply it and wait the directed amount of time. After the cream works its magic and you remove it and the hair in your shower, pat the area dry carefully with a very clean towel. Wait a few minutes, then apply a toner (what some women use after they wash their face). I use one made by Neutrogena.

Now, your mileage may vary: some of the strippers at my ex's club found the cream unsatisfactory: some didn't like the smell, texture or thought it was too "rough". But for me it works great! I have recommended the process to men and gals and they all gave it a thumbs up! It sounds simple, but it works: no razors (ouch) and I think the toner helps your delicate skin down there recover faster and without lumps, irritations or itching. The smoothness also lasts a lot longer than shaving. There ya go.

As for myself, I did it once when I was much younger. That was awful.

Did my legs once. That wasn't so bad, but I mostly use long pants, even in the warmest of summers, so.. meh.

Luckily, I don't have a hairy chest or back, so no issues there. Yay.

The thing is that it's polite. Judging by oldies porn (70s to early 80s porn), women didn't shave until some time in the 80s. It's only polite that men trim down there.

No, I do think it's true. Its just as bad as the "Girls in school uniforms with a short skirt" fantasy some guys have. You can't say THAT's not a sign. Combine a liking of schoolgirl uniforms with a liking of a completely shaved kitty, and you pretty much have a person who likes kiddies a bit too much. Lots of people have this sort of fantasy, and most of these people have the sense not to act on them, as humans are smart enough to not just act on a whim.

Opinions on the amount of hair for either men or women vary depending on who you ask because the male's organ expands outward, thus the hair becomes "less in the way". But hers gets in the way easier [than a man's] if you know what I mean.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen is Dan Hedaya in Alien Resurrection, sitting up in his bunk when the aliens escape from their cages... and the NEST of arm hair (not armPIT hair, just plain arm hair) sticking out from the edges of his T-shirt. For a horror/sci-fi movie, it was a definite mood-breaker.

Although in Continental Europe, it is usual for most women to keep their pit hair (incidentally, the most painful waxing I ever had!) although they probably identify when the term 'Damen' :p

I agree with the 'coming out of clothes' being unacceptable school and trim accordingly... I remember being on Venice Beach in a large group of people and being alarmed by the long dark hairs down the back of one girl's thighs. She'd trimmed the front... but forgotten the back. Oops!

I love it when a guy is totally uninhibited and shaves, especially the rough trade. I have never once thought of it in ped. terms, but can see where some might.

for women it depends on who pierced them and how. Sadly, there are a lot of piercers out there to just don't care and basically grap the clamp, run the needle through and BAM! your done. thats not how it is supposed to go. the place i go to is the best i have ever seen, and as the guy says "we dont add anything to your nipples, and we don't take anything out." its just another hole, so done properly it should have no affect, but of course that isn't always the case. Getting my nipples done was a piece of cake, same with my eyebrow and labret, and stretching my ears. tattoos take a bit more courage and i have to psych myself up for them, but its well worth it in the end.

Yes, we like that. We like.

Ok, so if a guy shaves his nether regions, but wants to leave the 'happy trail', how would he go about such a thing? Without going into too much detail, I have generally gone out with guys who are dark haired and fairly hairy, and am therefore happy with the occasional trimming. :o So, if I imagine them shaving but leaving the 'happy trail', they would look a bit odd, what with, well, a hairy belly, but a straight line across. Presumably less hairy men have less of a defined difference.

I'm now intrigued. Do I just go out with freakishly hairy men? If not, do they somehow grade the lower haircut in the manner of 80s schoolboys? :D

Trimming is best in my opinion. Shaving is fine if you don't have hairy legs. If you have hairy legs and a hairy chest/stomach and then a patch of hairlessness right above your penis would look mighty strange. Please trim if that's the case. A clean shaven pubic area can be very sexy, but in most cases I'd say trimming is better.

Oh, and this is semi-unrelated, but if you have a hairy chest, stomach, and/or back please don't shave that hair off. Hairy bodies are very sexy! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. :)

From Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery:

Dr. Evil: The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

I don't think many of us expected a thread here with the amazingly crass title "Do you shave or trim........down there?"

I wasn't too suprised. There seem to pop up some really weirdo threads here now and then. It certainly make things a bit more interesting :p

threads like this keep things from becoming stale, they are fun, and everyone can get a good laugh. reminds me of the Drunk Thread, and Poop Thread.

Ass hairs serve another purpose. Sometimes when I'm bored, I'll twirl them in my fingers to keep myself entertained. Thought I'd share that little tid-bit with you all.

Sharing ... isn't it priceless? I must be terribly boring because I regularly listen to my Beatles collection of mp3's when I crave entertainment.

Now that this thread has arrived on the scene, I am gonna take a wild guess and say that experiences with hemorrhoids cannot be far behind (no pun intended).

I believe it is when there is a 'trail' of hair extending from the belly button and down...

Yeah, I've got one. I have no hair on my chest , but I've got hair that leads from the belly button to the "big guy."

Oh, and this is semi-unrelated, but if you have a hairy chest, stomach, and/or back please don't shave that hair off. Hairy bodies are very sexy! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. :)

You are one of the few --- the very few. I think men play the odds and shave because most women DON'T find hair sexy.

Yeah, I suppose there is a point where one becomes 'too hairy', and that point changes from person to person. Personally, there are very few men in this world who I'd find to be 'too hairy'. This man is one of them:

That hasn't been my personal experience. Experience is probably the wrong word ;) - that hasn't been my personal observation.

Here's an internet poll that I found (http://www.bestandworst.com/66/smooth-smooth-66783r.html) however free response statistics are biased by nature, so the results are questionable.

Personally I think the whole 'women like smoothe chests' thing is just a big misconception, but it's hard to say :).

I suspect it is too although gorilla-like is never good - and hairy backs don't do much for me either.

I'd rather a guy have hair on his chest than be completely hairless there - it's much nicer to snuggle up to. On the other hand, I'd rather he be hairfree than have a few tiny wispy bits that look like an adolescent moustache.

I guess however, that it's just as well that we don't all like the same thing or we'd have a race of clones wandering around.

I have only a few tiny wispy bits, that's why I shave it. Actually, it's more like a few dark and quite thick hairs, not wisps, but they are so few and far between that it looks ridiculous :)
