OK, I'll admit I am totally obsessed the little jewel called nano.
Mind you, I have a 40GB iPod photo (the original  ) that I use every day and a shuffle that sits on the bulleting board unused most of the time since I had to stop running due to my back.
And, my better half will kill me (not out loud, though it will be something along the lines of "it's your money") when he gets home tomorrow.
And, I should put the money in the 30-inch monitor fund...
Christ make the voices stop... :D

Well, given how tiny the Nano is you shouldn't have any problem hiding it from him... ;)

Very funny! Alternatively, buy it for him and then use it yourself?

they are snazzy looking- i cant beleive how small they are!! someone posted pics.
i think you ought to get one ;) :D
bida, bida, bida-da-dum....boo!
I've got as far as the checkout at Apple's online store before remembering that I can't remember the last time I would've had a use for it. If I take the plunge it'll mean I've got to find time to do some exercise then I think would the money be better spent on a rowing machine? But I'm not going to use that unless I've got an iPod to listen to.
So you can hear the voices too, at least that makes me feel better.

Yes, LOUD voices...
I don't freaking need the thing. I have got to have it.
Maybe I should see how long I can go before I go mental.

Hehe, my first thought was who am I going to give my Shuffle to in order to get me one of these. :D
I'd like it to be my new Shuffle but there is at least one thing holding me back: No lanyard with 3rd party headphones. If there were one, I'd already have bought it...
I guess I am lucky. :D

Sell the shuffle, offset some of the cost of buying the nano. Why keep the shuffle, when the nano is a 4gb version of the shuffle with a screen to boot. :)
Go on, do it... you know you wanna.

I finally came to my senses.
I really need the 30-inch monitor for my business - this would be a wasted, usueless expense, plus I already have two iPods.
Congrats to all those buying!!

I would say sell/trade/move the Shuffle in place of the Nano. I am using a 30Gb Photo, love the thing to death but hesitate taking it running or swimming (jk), and I was about to buy a 1Gb Shuffle last week (checkout and all). Something stopped me, just the thought something else was coming and so I turned here to read a little more, voila the Nano appears and now I want one of those!
I say get one and find a new home for your shuffle, since they effectively can do the same things (flash-based reasoning) and not too different size-wise. Indulge, it's good for you :)

Shoot, virtually nothing that's discussed here has anything to do with need... this is all about want. ;)
But I congratulate you on your willpower to hold out for the big display. Giving up a small want if it helps you with a big want is always OK.

Oh the wit, so grand, so so grand :D
I would think you could find a buyer for a Shuffle quite easily, they are still quite useful and many people will prefer them simply because they double as a thumbdrive. Assuming you take good care of your products (as it seems most Mac users do) the resale should be decent, they are still quite new.

iGary, listen to me you whinning, kid-less money bag.
I spend $100/month for 1 kids piano lessons.
$95/mo for 2 kids gymnastics
$60/mo for another kids dance classes
we just wrote over $100 in various checks to the elementary school for kids stuff.
You have none of that, no clothes for 3 kids, no meals for 3 kids, no birthday presents for 3 kids' friends.
Get the blessed thing NOW! Screw the 30in, it will be there only cheaper next month.
After you get it, you have to put some of my fav songs on it though.

I loved the nano the second I saw it. I was set on buying one.
But then I found out it isn't compatible with Apple's AV Adapter. I'd love to put keynote presentations on the iPod and take it to class and do a presentation with it. So much more cool and easier than a laptop. So I decided, nah, I'll wait for whatever the next new "big" iPod is, be it iPod video or whatever.

Live while you can, you have no kids to worry about!
But God it must be expensive to live in Anapolis.
