I used mv to rename my hard drive but the desktop name of it does not change. It changes in the terminal when you ls the volumes directory but it is not reflect on the desktop name even if you restart.
I do not want to do this in the Finder. I want to be able to do this in the Terminal or some other way automatically with a script.
Any ideas.

Translation. I want to do this like the Government. The hardest way possible. If there is a harder way then using the terminal pleaes tell me because I wan to do it that way.
Sorry I just had to do that. Not meant to be an insult. No hard feelings.:)

I dont think it will be possible. Try using apple scripts.
See, Finder generates those names on the fly based on meta data stored in the hfs+ table.
Do it graphically and you will be ok cause finder can change that data. You cant.
If there is a way to bypass this or if i am wrong - for crying out loud let me know.
