Need some windows help... Im sorry :)

I need to share a internet connection between a windows 98 and a windows xp cpu

What do I need?

And can I install office on both cpus, or do i need to buy 1 copy of officexp and one copy of office 98

Router? I need a checklist and prices.

All you need is a cross over cable or a hub.
Either connect to two directly with the cross over cable, or hook them both up to a hub.
Then set the IP addresses on each machine to:

1st box:
192.168.0.1

2nd box:
192.168.0.2

And set a subnet mask on both of 255.255.255.0, once one is connected to the web, on the other just go through a new internet connection wizard and say that you access the web via a LAN. Now you should be in business.

That's almost correct. You also need to turn on internet conection sharing on the one computer that does connect to the internet. Then is should all work (in theory).

dude, I'm not going to pick on you but have you yet to realise this is a mac site? I mean as much as we'd like to help you......why did you ask on MacRumors.com a mac only site?

man i feel sorry for you having to work with PC's, but hey, this is a Mac site....

good luck with those PCs anyway.
