Yes, yes they do.

I hope they're right. I don't care about an ipod with video capabilities coming out, all I care about is the prices staying the same. Because whatever comes out, unless the prices have gone up a lot I'm gonna get a 40GB iPod.

I might too, and I completely agree about the video functionality. Steve Jobs was right, nobody (save a few geeks) is really going to go for that...YET.

I just find it hard to believe Apple will release another iPod so quickly after the release of the nano. Oh well, I guess we'll just wait til Wednesday and see.

thank you for the good find.

i still do not believe that apple would call such an event, so soon after the last one 'just' for this.

plus, if these updates were 'all' that was to be anounced, apple would probably have combined the last event with this one.

so i stick with my assumption that this event is based on the premise that some radically new agreements have been reached with 'third' parties (likely to be the movie industry with movie content).

i see:
new itunes store with movies (an amazing step for apple!)
new ipod with video (probably, but not definately)

none of this precludes upgrades to other macs.

... this is resembling the speculation on the previous thread.

lets sit tight and see.... :)

TS is usually on the money so for me this is a non-event event.

Hopefully something else will appear like BT Mighty Mice, Airport Express supporting video, new iSights, new eMacs with LCDs but still one pieces, new LCD displays - cheaper, etc

TS have missed things before.

Yeah I think the updates will just be the Pro line, ie:

Xserve
Powermac
Powerbook
Cinema Display

....oh and the obligatory ipod update.

This place should be buzzing then. And I hope that the buzz is more from genuine excitement, rather than the groans of disappointment. My optimism level is high.

Don't count on it. Xserve was just updated, cinema displays might have a price drop but they won't be updated, and "four new mac configs" could easily mean four different configs of just PowerBooks or just PowerMacs

My god man, out of all the the things to be updated this is last on my list.

The eMac is on its way out, just get a cheap LCD and Mac mini... ;)

speaking of, I would have thought we would have seen more mac mini's in schools since they are so cheap and work with most PC peripherals. I guess it would be too easy for kids to sneak them into their backpacks .

I was just thinking the same, perhaps the 2 top PM & PB's?

I hate LCD screens - they're awful lol.

FOUR new Mac configurations huh? - 2 Powermacs and 2 Powerbooks? 2 Powermacs and 2 Mac minis? 4 Powermacs? lol

I have read / seen a plethora of shopping lists for this upcoming events...
and often from the same source.

I keep coming back to the first word in the Invite "One"

One more thing... implies to me - that whilst Steve might update things / talk about where things are up to... there is "one" new piece of hardware, or signficant Revision.

for the people who are seeing 4 mac configurations and are trying to guess which 4...

Well said.

Although a pink nano for Breast Cancer Awareness (with the obligatory ribbon logo laser etched on the back), with some proceeds going to the cause, might be a popular item.
I can think of a few other worthy causes Steve could get behind if he ever decided to do something like this.

I'm trying to not get too excited about Wednesday. I hate that disappointed feeling when I feed into the hype and hysteria.

The Xserve Raid was just updated, not the normal Xserve G5...which needs an update....

xserve was just updated like 2 weeks ago. the rest is prety accurate maybe the imac instead of the cinema display.

So, iPods in black and white...erm great.
Updated lines...well that'll be an extra 100Mhz each then, and not forgetting GPU updates from a ATI XX00 to a ATI XX50 which benchmark at probably the same. Can't wait. The world turns.
Yeah my cup is half empty. :)

Rest assured, the Power Mac G5s are awesome, awesome computers (hopefully even better on wednesday). I absolutely love mine- it beats the heck out of my old PC.

Your cup might be half empty....but it is a realistic approach to the possible updates looming this wednesday.

That said.....all hail the dual-core 3GHz PowerPC G5! ;) :)

Do people actually say "four" more things? I think "one more thing" might just mean "there is more".

With the exception of the Nano and Mighty Mouse (neither computers), Apple has not come out with anything really big in a quite a while. Until the Intels, I'm not expecting anything particularly interesting with new computers.

I just ordered an iSight online less than 30 mins ago. If they update it I know what I'm returning. Airport Express with video would mean I have to ebay my current one if its cool enough . Gotta stream my anime and home videos.

Oct 10, 2005, 11:28 AM
Well I suppose having the a video iPod would suck the battery up too quickly as the backlight would need to stay on for the length of the video.

But I'm predicting iMac, Powerbook and Power Mac updates and they'll officially announce the recent Mac Mini updates here. Oh and a price drop in cinema displays :D

PS: Kill the eMac already!!! It would hurt to buy an iBook or a Mac Mini instead would it?

Simply incorrect. It is true the processor was not updated, but the Xserve was updated.

If this is true, I would says its the death kneel for the Expos as far as introducing new products. Apple has been slowly moving away from that for a few years.

I have trouble believing the rumor about a pink, Madonna iPod nano....

wouldn't it have made more sense to introduce this 2 weeks ago when (1) the Nano was introduced, (2)her catalog was introduced to the iTMS, and (3) she was on iChat at the event??

I don't expect Cinema Displays to be updated (although price cut is a possibility) but when they do, I expect DVI+HDCP and/or HDMI.

Well I hope that the Powerbook will be updated and i think that maybe they could put a built in camera into the Powerbook on the top, i think i remember a new patent to do that not to long ago, it might be to soon from the patent but i dont know. We will see :)
